Smell

I have noticed that from the past few days, I have a really strong smell coming from my urine. Also there is a burning sensation when I pass urine. Do I have some sort of an infection? :S

Re: Smell

Lack of water..thats all.

Maybe too many spices.

Not a topic I would wanna talk about too much though.

Re: Smell

But I do drink a lot of water. I drink water all the time in uni and at home so that could not be it. Spices? :S

Re: Smell

Spices can even make your sweat smell different. Try eating about 10 kosher vlasic pickles in one sitting and then wait.

Re: Smell

I am not much into spices, so no thank you.

Re: Smell

Could it be that your sense of smell just became more intense?

Re: Smell

^How is that going to happen ? Does it become more intense as a person grows? :hmmm:

Re: Smell

Are you taking a new multivitamin perhaps? A change in your diet? Maybe a UTI that you are not aware of?

Re: Smell

Most likely something u are eating?

Re: Smell

:hayaa: ..

Re: Smell

nikky mami i am taking a new kind of iron tablet… and some mutlivitamin tablet.. do u think this is causing the smell?

Re: Smell

Absolutely. Just give it a few days. It'll be better.

Re: Smell

Re: Smell

Ewww so now not only do the iron tablets taste bad and leave a bad after taste they have made my urine stink like hell. Ok, I will give it a few days and see what happens. Thank you Nikky mami and all!

Re: Smell

Ok Aisha........this is what you need to do. Load up on water. In the event that what you have is a UTI (urinary tract infection), which is caused by bacteria......you need to drink loads of water for your body to flush out that bacteria. The inconvenience is that you'll end up going to the bathroom quite a bit...but this has to be done for your body to eliminate the bacteria.

Eating yogurt and craberry juice will also help for a UTI. Yogurt netrualizes the bacteria in your body and sugar-free cranberry juice will help prevent it from sticking to your body.

If you do not get better within the next 24-48 hours, please consult a doctor. A doc is simply going to to take a urine sample, which will be analyzed witihin 15-30 minutes. And then he will prescribe you antibiotics to eliminate the bacterial infection.

There is a possibility that this is being caused by iron tablets...so stay away from the tablets and hydrate yourself to see if that doesn't help first. I also take iron tablets and besides my urine becoming darker in color....i've had no other problems with it.

Re: Smell

Aisha the iron tablets explains the color and smell change but not the burning sensation. i'd consult a doctor about that if I were you.

Re: Smell

burning sensation?..hmmm.. u might be holding the urine for a long time?

Re: Smell

Odor in urine, burning sensation, and frequent urination are all symptoms of a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) as well. Take a break from the iron pills and load up on water for 24-48 hours. If you feel no relief, then it's a UTI and you need to see a doctor for an antibiotic prescription as you don't want it to spread or become severe.

About iron tablets....I take them myself. And they're pretty strong supplements and not easy to take. It's best to take an iron supplement with a meal. And it's recommended to take it juice or vitamin C because that helps your body absorb iron better.

Re: Smell

Only a doctor can tell the real reason, but my medical experience tells me its either upper urinary tract infection caz if the infection had gone far you would experience pain in kidneys too and you dont have kidney pain which is good.
It could also be yeast infection but do book an appointment with doctor. Craneberry juice is very good for treatment of urinary tract infections

Re: Smell

Aisha this is coz of lack of water...and if ur urine is dark ( orange colour ) it's also b'coz of lack of water...

but about burnig thing u should go to a doc...b'coz its not normal...and u cant ignore this..b'coz it;s very serious problem..
