Slut Walks have become a global phenomenon to protest against sexual violence after a police officer in Toronto caused outrage by stating in a speech to university students that women should avoid “dressing like sluts” to avoid being victimized.
Unlike other Slut Walks, where women dress up in skimpy clothes to challenge the mindset of people who blame a victim for being assaulted, in Delhi, the mood was more toned down.
“We did not want to unnecessarily dress up in something we are not comfortable in. In any case, no matter what a girl wears, salwar kameez or jeans, she is teased or assaulted,” said Archie Sharma, a Delhi University (DU) student who participated in the walk.
“So the point we are trying to make here is that just let us be. How does it matter what I wear or how I walk or how I talk? It gives no one a right to pass nasty comments or worse, sexually assault me,” she added.
A massive poster was also put up where the participants wrote their messages after their short walk from Parliament Street to Jantar Mantar.
A few wrote their messages on their arms and one even let her belly be a canvas, as another girl wrote out her message.
Others held placards with messages like “My short skirt has nothing to do with you!”, “The way a woman dresses is not an invitation to sexual assault”, “It’s not about being a slut or not, it’s about being human!”. *
In India they are more fee in women rights. In our society women are not at all aware. They cannot even prove the rape against them. We love to live in 15 century. Modernization for us is a western concept and we hate west. We are No.1 country to search for ~SEX~ on Google but do not admit in open. No matter almost all the Muslim youths of middle east and northern Africa are frustrated. Pls read NonieDarwish, **Wafa Sultan **and **Brigitte Gabriel **books that highlights the contradiction in our (Islamic) societies.
I think this whole slut walk crusade is extremely distasteful . I cannot comment on the Indian protest but in Canada there were Women walking around with their genitalia exposed .
Well there are laws against indecent exposure in most western Countries. If you want to walk around naked in your own home then go ahead but why should children be exposed to this sort of filth.

Maybe I am missing the sarcasm in your posts. I am not advocating all Women walk around in burkhas but walking around naked in front of children is disgusting in my opinion.
Maybe arrest the ones that insist on breaking the public decency laws. They have gone about this whole campaign in the wrong way in my opinion. I agree no women deserves to be raped but to then to go an spearhead their campaign with the word slut, which means a woman who gives it up easily is very counter productive.
all these protest occur near my workplace the connaught place and jantar mantar area. “Nazar teri buri burkha mein kyon pehnu” was one of the placards that one girl was holding as I was going to my office on sunday:mad:.
Agreed wearing burkha if compelled is wrong but walking like a slut is stupid idea, another tag that Delhi girls have opted out is “*****”, things like I am proud to be a ***** is now sign of modernity, all this in the name of women empowerment and emancipation:D
a county which is as conservative as India in its moral fabric will take years to accept this change, till then if women keep calling herself slut or *****, she will be treated like slut or *****.
infact a woman’s dressing sense is the first shield that prevent sexual assault

Yes but first off you should stop pretending to be a Pakistani. Yes you weren't fortunate enough to be born as a Pakistani but thats life. Instead you should accept that you will never be a Pakistani and just show your true nationality. Now I can expose how women are treated in your "real" country if you want.

Please do not rub it in, I have plenty of juicy reports on the subject but I would consider that waste of time given that vast majority of Indians live in full denial.
