slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

I'm guessing that these women don't dress like "sluts" all year round

The idea is that a woman should not be more susceptible to "forced sex" also known as rape because of the clothes she is wearing (or not wearing). Men should not be able to say - but she dressed like a slut so she deserved it. Appealing to common sense that men have control over their actions and are not animals motivated by primal urges alone.

And to make this point a bunch of women dress like sluts - or parade around naked - to say in essence "pig men is this provocative enough for you - We'd like to see someone try and harm us".

I think its a perfectly fine way of driving home a point that NO MATTER HOW A WOMAN dresses - its doesn't mean she's asking for "it".

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

^ do the same women have problem with women being 'oppressed'/'objectified' in sex-industry?? or porn??
or are these the other sort of feminists who support those activities??

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

In america too girls dress up exposing so much. In downtown areas mothers wears clothes that expose their butt and chest it is so distasteful and they have children with them too.

In india it doesn't matter even if u wear shalwar kammez with dupatta also they will haress you.

As a woman i personally think we should dress decently.

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

Focusing on "downtown women" uncalled for. One can find examples across the societal spectrum with dress codes that may be deemed indecent.

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

Excellently put. Folks appear to have missed this.

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

Iam sorry! my office is in downtown so i commented about women there.

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

Sorry - I misunderstood. Guess at times one jumps to the wrong conclusions. Peace.

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

There is a saying: If it walks like a duck…

Why would these women have to do that?

OP says it was a police officer in Canada who asked women to wear decent clothes.

Why would he say that? Is he a religious fanatic or does he have any motive other than the safety of women?

Why these Indian women have to copy everything :smack:

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

^ Missing the big picture.

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

Missing the obvious?

A policeman said something …why?

And walking naked for the cause…

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

^ Please read post sloooowly 21 for the big picture!

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

Obviously you did not read my post slow enough.

It does take two to tango.

And yes at times a pervert cannot be stopped regardless what a woman be wearing or what circumstances or relationship the pervert has. Sick minded are a reality.

No argument there.

What you have failed to understand that there is such thing as incitement, excitement, human emotions, with all the weaknesses attached to it.

Both factors need to be worked on.

As much as possible, the decent clothings in any environment which could potentially bring the crime to occur be worn.

Every situation of crime is different and be looked at and what these famanizis have created that the meaning of rape is changed altogether.

Not just that, other factors need to be minimised. Like drugs or alcohol access to especially immature crowd.

A lot of people even in west are getting tired of these bunch of loonies running around naked showing private parts on street to make a silly point. Please read the news. If not just google it.

Moreover what is the point of walking naked, the post 21 gave acceptance to a stupid idea.

Next is what, you throw dollars/diamonds/gold on the street everywhere around you and say " Come on robbers, come rob me"?

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

"Every situation of crime is different and be looked at and what these famanizis have created that the meaning of rape is changed altogether. "

Definition of rape is simple - No means no. Period. We can agree to disagree.

The use of the word "feminazis" is more a reflection on the user. Personally, I do not care much for that term.

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

Some other time it can be discussed what is no and what is yes.

Simply speaking the street show of nudity is not a decent idea. Unless someone does not care to be accepted as decent person.

There was nothing wrong in the police officer advising women to be decent and proper.

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

He shoudnt have used the word slut. I'm sure he realizes that now. Couldve simply said be careful at night specially if you are wearing clothes that could be seen as revealing by perverts.

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

He apologized. He meant that in good way for the safety of women if one can guess. His choice of word was not correct admittedly.

But why some of walk participants tried so hard to prove him right by public display of nudity?

Why they did not say “No we are not!”?

Read the description by a woman in this article.

And loved the last part of this article;

"…Which is likely why Mark Twain observed:Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence in society.

So ladies, wear revealing clothing if you want to. But don’t ever think it is safe to wear anything you want were ever you want. Life isn’t about Why you shouldn’t be a victim, it is about how NOT to be a victim."

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

^ Diwana - you have a good heart - and have the best interst of women in mind. We just view the world differently. There is no right or wrong here I think - just a difference of opinion.

Cheers (till we meet again!)

Re: slut walk (sorry that is what it is called!)

Thank you. There is clear right and wrong there in my humble opinion.

Anytime. :)
