Has anyone used this device? I want to get it and set it up to watch the WorldCup, but don’t know if its worth it to play around with this now. I also wanted to find out (if anyone’s used it) how many streams can you get from it over a Cable/DSL connection.

i have used it off a friend's box and he was on T1 line, all desi satellitle channels and excellent buffer free stream.
but if you wanna watch WC, come over to the cricket forum and we can hook ya up with a window media player stream

worth everysingle dollar (i got the 149.99 one the slingbox av)
flawless streaming if u have a fast connection (upload: 300 kb)
other free options (windows media services 9) and use the pull url to view in any windows media player (presuming that u have the capability to inputting audio video to ur computer)

no u can't do multiple streams.. u have to download the player (50 megs!) install the software and then connect to ur box at home.. once someone else tries to login u'll get booted.

Well, there goes that idea then. How about Windows Media Encoder, anyone used that? Its a free download. I'm going to try that when i get home.

do u have video/audio inputs on ur computer?
its fairly simple to setup… u can also restrict ips & i also think u can pass protected ur stream - basically it’ll give u an address of the stream after (ur ip with port number).. copy that for eg http://74.23.243.13:5001 copy paste that into ur windows media player at a remote location.. and it works like a charm

GenSec, I know about the WM Encoder, have set it up before. I just wanted to know if you can do multiple streams on it.
I do have an ATI AIW card but now I have Win 2003 on it it hasn't been working. Bought Video Express (ADS Tech) and hope it works on win2k3.

Try VLC player as well, it allows you to stream any media content.

oh yeah slingbox..i have this system as well..
but it does not work ..actually i was trying to connect my cousin's dish to my computer..so i can watch it on my PC screen but since my cousin has a phone service that runs through internet..it does not work..!!
