Looks like there are millions of Pakistanis who oppose fighting with militants. As I earlier said, killings will bring more killings. This problem can only be solved peacefully. Religion is integral part of peace treaty. How many people can Mush government kill to achieve peace? I think more than half of Pakistani population.
WASHINGTON, Oct 31 (Reuters): Islamabad’s fight against militants has weak support among Pakistanis, who strongly oppose allowing outside forces to fight Al Qaeda in Pakistan, according to a poll released Wednesday. The WorldPublicOpinion.org poll conducted last month also showed scant support for President Pervez Musharraf. The poll of 907 Pakistanis in urban areas found 44 percent favour sending the Pakistani army to northwestern tribal areas to pursue and capture Al Qaeda militants, while 48 percent support allowing the Pakistan army to fight Taliban insurgents who have crossed over from Afghanistan. About one-third of respondents opposed military action in those two cases and a fifth declined to answer. An overwhelming 80 percent of respondents voiced opposition to allowing U.S. or other foreign troops to attack Al Qaeda on Pakistani territory. Seventy-seven percent opposed allowing foreign troops to attack Taliban insurgents based in Pakistan.. Only 5 percent said they approved of missions by foreign troops to pursue Taliban or Al Qaeda. Among urban Pakistanis asked to name “the best person to lead Pakistan” 27 percent named Bneazir Bhutto, 21 percent cited Musharraf and 21 percent supported former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. “The Pakistani people are not enthusiastic about Musharraf, do not support his recent crackdown on fundamentalists, and are lukewarm at best about going after Al Qaeda or the Taliban in western Pakistan,” said WorldPublicOpinion.org director Steven Kull. “It appears that a US strategy that rests on Musharraf being a front line in the war on terrorism has poor prospects,” he said in a statement accompanying the poll. Re: Slim Pakistani support for fighting militants: poll
Musharraf needs resign ASAP and the warfronts created by him in Baluchistan and Waziristan need to come to peaceful resolution. Otherwise we will continue to have a turbulent pakistan...
Re: Slim Pakistani support for fighting militants: poll
Read Faisals post to evaluate his performance… he’s done a piss poor job handling the situation and needs to resign based on his poor performance and lack of support amongst the masses.
Re: Slim Pakistani support for fighting militants: poll
Farid bhai, Aap qua ma qua mai fikar kartay hain. BB and MQM will root out all the evil from Pakistan.
They cant do jack... MQM is just a one city based local party confined to the city FARTHEST away from where all of this is happening, what do you expect them to do send their commandos to fight the tribals in the north? They are just leashed pets for Musharraf to attack the opposition if they turf Karachi.
Re: Slim Pakistani support for fighting militants: poll
Matter of opinion.
Muslim terrorists are causing havoc around the world and using Pakistan as a base.
It’s very well sitting in the comfort of western homes without realising the true nature of the situation. Pakistan is going through the most difficult period in its history created by these Muslim terrorists that are using its lands.
Musharaf has done well not to turn Pakistan into Iraq.
God Bless President Musharaf and President Bush and their fight against terror.
Re: Slim Pakistani support for fighting militants: poll
Peacfully ? Where do you people live? When you have animals beheading security forces, blowing up anythng that they deem "unislamic," and destroying whatever vestage of state control there might be, what peacful means can you use to resolve the issue?
This is a home grown rebelion, not a negotiation with India... Make peace with the terrorists and you legitimize their cause and give others an insentive to do the same thing.
And whether or not the average Pakistani The average Pakistan is a self centered beinsupports it whole heartadly is irrelevant.g. How many of them care if girls schools, and cd shops are being blown up in some place as a remote to them as the moon?
In country like Pakistan, where the majority are more concerned about keeping their own neck in place, it the duty of the govt to go out and do the right thing. And that means destroying these terrorists come hell or high water...

After Mush resigns, terrorists/militants will give up their guns and demands. Great logic.
Re: Slim Pakistani support for fighting militants: poll
This is not an easy and simple matter which can be solved by killings. Due to same relegion back ground, you can not ignore sympathy of millions Pakistanis to these elemennts. Unless you don't treat route cause of this problem, beleive me niether BB nor MQM or any one for that matter can do anything about it. Pakistanis are very sensitive to their relegion, any wrong move, will result in catostrophic results. It is time for peaceful solution, not by killings.
