Re: Slim Pakistani support for fighting militants: poll
This is not an easy and simple matter which can be solved by killings. Due to same relegion back ground, you can not ignore sympathy of millions Pakistanis to these elemennts. Unless you don't treat route cause of this problem, beleive me niether BB nor MQM or any one for that matter can do anything about it. Pakistanis are very sensitive to their relegion, any wrong move, will result in catostrophic results. It is time for peaceful solution, not by killings.
To late to worry about the root cause...
Its like saying if someone is dying of an infection, instead of treating the patient, we simply focus on the cause...
Offcourse we should try to focus on the cause, but that doesnt mean we ignore the patient and allow them to die...
Swat and other areas are already infected. We can worry about the causes, but we how can we ignore the fact that the patient is dying?!?!

Pakistani log kis cheez per sensitive nahin hain bhai mere...... we are jazbati Qoum...... but its time to use head not heart...... I Agree with your post except the highlighted part. Majority of people want peace.....its a bunch of retartded people with the messed up logic wants to get their way and now wants to force us to live our lives according to their set rules............. Gov. and people of pakistan doesnt want any trouble its them who wants to govern us. Which is unacceptable.
Re: Slim Pakistani support for fighting militants: poll
People use(d) to support Musharraf. People use to like Musharraf, but why and what has changed since than? Never got the simple sincere response regarding it. The Musharraf of '99 was a dictator. COAS and President, held a rigged election and jailed Javed Hashmi for 27 years. This Musharraf is willing to give up his powers, hold a free election and media and courts are much more independent and strong. Not to mention economy is still going strong.
What has changed since than? Simple, Musharraf has lost the ability to gravitate people. Bring the emotion and talk about Pakistani issues from Pakistani perspective. This is why he enjoyed the support in 80s. Now when he is cornered in with his mistakes and circumstances. Others get to define his position, intentions and plans.
People want democracy and their fav. leaders. How many of them believe in democracy? How many of these parties who preach democracy as their fav. pet actually practice it? Most of them in the end enable the same Musharraf who is down in polling and ask him to lead the country. How can you talk about democracy when you yourself are the life time chairperson?
Did we choose to be in this position? Did any one had the choice to pick sides when the planes hit the WTC? Did any one ever tought that the brave "soldiers" of '80 will be the biggest threat to Pakistan and west in this decade? We don't decide that, no one does. These are blowbacks of failed policies and half azz job by previous leaders national and internationally.
Times are hard and we need consistency. Moreover we need stablity, and end game. We need to know when these operation will end. We need to know when these suicide bombs will end. We need answers to questions. Is it paranoia or legitimate issues? Depends on what part of specturm you are in.
Re: Slim Pakistani support for fighting militants: poll
i wonder those that oppose army action in FATA are supporters / sympathizers of terrorists. government should take action against them first. :halo: :k:
Re: Slim Pakistani support for fighting militants: poll
Antiobl,
First of all keep in your mind while finger pointing that report is not mine. Read the final para of the report which makes sense. Mush has not been able to control Jehadis, the occurance of deadly bombers are more frequent than in the past. There is complete failure on part the government. I stick to my statement, that millions sympathies with these elements due to common relegion background. I have suggested peaceful solution to the problem, if you think voilent solution, then prepare for more violence. Do you want Iraq like situation in Pakistan?
Re: Slim Pakistani support for fighting militants: poll
This is too interconnected with the rest of the region. The war and unrest from Iraq and Afghanistan is spreading worldwide and fast.
You can put Musharraf in there or BB. You can have Pakistani soldiers fighting in Waziristan or not. I don't think it makes a difference. Militants in NWFP and Balochistan have been deprived for so long. Everyone overlooks the root cause. When you take away everything from some people and make them second class citizens.
Re: Slim Pakistani support for fighting militants: poll
these numbers will change as these idiots will keep killing more pakistanis
yeah as long as pakistani government keep on killing its own citizens then numbers will change and show more support for fighting militants. remember sindh and punjab are not the only provinces where pakistanis live. you can't treat other two provinces like orphans.

In tribal area, people do not support weak and meek authority. Bin Laden knows about it and that's why he resorts to beheadings, mutilation of the dead, and wanton killing and kidnapping.
Once the Pak government shows its muscle, tribals will side with us. It has been long in coming, but there is no alternative to killing the terrorists.
Remember the tribal traditions are relatively simple and yet utterly brutal.
Once you occupy your enemy's land, you kill the men, and take women and kids as slaves.
That off course is the ultimate brutality, but those are traditions of tribals such as Bin Laden.
