I have met (and now read) a lot of ladies who seriously believe somehow that sleeping in the nude is an anti-religious thing. It isn’t …!!!

Let those whom your right hands posess and the children who have not yet come of age ask your permission (before they come to your presence), on three occasions: before morning prayer; the while you doff your clothes for the noon day heat; and after the late night prayer(isha): These are your three times of undress; outside these times it is not wrong for you Or for them to move about attending for each other: Thus does Allah makes clear the signs to you: for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom".
In the next aya same advise of seeking permission is repeated for the children who have come of age.
Culture and religion in pakistan are fairly intermingled and it would be truthful to say that some people … a lot of people… practice some self-imposed inhibitions on the mistaken belief that something must be forbidden in Islam because it somehow doesn’t sound right… some molvis impose such inhibitions on the people because of lack fo knowledge as well.
And Mods… please don’t move this thread to the religious forum on account of the content… this is where it all started… !!!
It seems to me that this topic was moved to Cafe a few days ago. This complete argument was hashed and re-hashed there already. The original poster has already clarified that what she wrote was her personal opinion, not a religious indictment.
I am curious that for the sake of consistency, why didn’t you provide your additional insights into the original thread instead of starting a new thread?
The thread was requested by the author to be kept clean of any religious discussions..... it was started in a light mood.... this one is only for readership of those whom it might help.
i have shared enough personal openions in the thread mentioned..... so here is a separate thread for the sole purpose of highlighting something so very commonly mistaken.

i think that as muslims...we are told to read kalma, surah fatiha and the Quls before sleeping...(and i dont think there is any religous biasness in doing soand evidence is available in ahadith and quran itself)..before reciting quranic surahs. one should have a clean mind and body.
i dont think this is so possible if u sleep naked and then recite these surahs....there is no religous evidence on if u can recite surahs in such a condition but c'mon would yr heart agree to it??

so for muslims it is highly inappropriate to do so....except for if u fall asleep while having some real intimate times with your spouse, or that u dont have faith in reciting these surahs with ablution or bathing or even at all!
Did you read the story in Surah-e-Baqrah about the cow that Allah ordered the bani-Israeel to sacrifice????
Well every time they heard the order, they asked Moses "oh please ask God to be more clear about it... what kind of cow?, what should it look like?, what should be the colour.....?? " and what started as the sacrifice of a simple cow actually turned out to be an ordeal , for in every new meeting ,with every new question , God would impose new complications on them.
But finally they did find that Yellow cow .....yes.... yellow...that did fulfill the criterea.... and sacrificed it.. to which Allah sweetly declares...." Fazabahuha wa ma kanoo yaf'aalon".
which translates as ..." So (after all) they did sacrifice the cow yet it didn't seem that they would...!!".
What's with us Monasha.....??? Why can't we take the liberties that are given to us freely in quran ...by God Himself.... without questioning his supreme wisdom??? Why do we wanna make things complicated when they are not???
It is someone's personal business if he or she wants to recite the verses mentioned... it is not FARZ ...... (and for the morons as we have in this thread.... i say a lot of those verses too) ..... yet it is a personal choice how you menage to do that.
I have to say ...... i had a lot of second thoughts before posting this kind of thing .. but I am glad I did. People do tend to make the religion into something of a misery which it isn't in any way....!! Islam simply doesn't comply with enclosed brains on low ventilation.

amazes me how ppl translate things to their own needs.
Gooni_2000, I love you man!!! You hit the nail on the head. People tend to complicate the simplest way of life, God's way. People go around forbidding things that aren't forbidden in the Quran and then they argue and justify these things by saying that some aalim or "scholar" said it was wrong.
This is absolute nonsense. They are in essence saying that these aalims know more than God to go around forbidding things that God didn't forbid.
As for people who say things like "Amazing how people translate things to suit them" etc and other silly things like that, Gooni_2000, I say to them "abay chal" and move on. One day everybody will find out where they are destined for, and to be quite honest, I can't wait till that day.
Ok Question..... How do you explain the above example in your own words..... did you bother to read the translation and the story or was it so "understood" for you that people like me shouldn't question your approach what ever it is....( which of course you didn't take time to exaplain)...!!!
Gooni, leave it be, people like question will never understand. THey are slaves to tradition and aalims and supposed scholars. People like Question don't usually tend to even open the Quran. They wrap it up in a piece of cloth and put it in their closet at the highest point, only to take out before going on a journey to walk under, how pathetic.
People like Question NEED aalims and supposed scholars to spoon feed them their own made up version of submission (islam). Even though the Quran itself says that it is a simple, easy to understand book, so that anyone can read/understand it, however, people like Question don't believe what the QUran says about itself, they still insist on having OTHER people tell them what the Quran says.
Gooni, God says in the Quran, your duty is to give the person the message, if they reject it, it is because God will's them to reject it.
Question, never you mind, you are right, inshallah one day we will all find out who was right and who was wrong.

what im trying to say is that " how can one even bear to sleep totally uncovered, after performing ablution and while trying to recite quranic suraahs??"
thats the time when one goes over the sins of the days and prays to allah to forgive us and lead us towards a better path!
i clearly stated that it might be easier for those who do not recite these surahs at all..it depends on ones own perspective!
however i firmly state that there is no twisting in translations regarding the order to recite surah's before going to sleep...evidence is available in quran and ahadith!

There are duas to be recited while you are making love to your wife and some dua are very specific to the exact time when the husband is in the process of ...do you think it is consider shameless to recite the name of God at this time?
You can always use robe doing your ablution and read your verses, then turn off the light, shove the robe out from bed, cuddle up with your darling and good night.

the book of ahadith...sahih-bukhari ntains these words which were told to hazrat ali (ra)

i had no idea about such surahs but i have noted them, i think it will be best to know about both aspects from ulemas instead of trying to prove or impose our point on others.
i posted my opinion on an open forum but did not mean to impose or argue over it.
if the islamic aspect allows you to do so...then i takemy words back...if it doesn't then i hope all muslims will follow the same.
however i stick firmly on my words about reciting kalimah..surah fatiha and the qul's bcoz i have seen and read some authentic books before following it.
