Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

excellent insight...and i fully agree...

the writer should leave this country and have a house in a paradise of Delhi.....if she is so fond of it........

i cannot understand the psyche of few pakistanis....like Altaf Hussain..Bainazir Bhutto...and few other actors...who seems to be more loyal to india than indians themselves...such foolish comparisons......

we do not want to be india...where muslims are treated as biased inviduals in every field...jobs..and education..as recent report of india indicated......

whoever come from india like indian ex-CM of Punjab..or recently Madhiyya Pardesh Assembly leader...all cpome and as soon as tey cross wagha Border...start the same songs....

we are one...we have same culture...we should all unite toghether...we are the sons of same mother(mothrland india)....we should alll unite to fight poverty..etc etc...let us trade toghether..let us our film industry grow tohrether as dramas are already filled with indian acteres and actresses....and no body talks bout Kashmir......!!!!!!!!!!

what is this ...its feeded in indian mind chip of each hindu /indian o talk about re-unification of sub-continenet...they still not accepted the partition of sub-continent.....

I Pakistan...we are respectable citizens...not like in india ..which are treated as 3 class citizens...in every field.....

we love our country..with all flaws and defects...and if someone wants other country...then she/he should leave it at once...never to come again...we do not want such traitors.....!!!!!!

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

And our roots lie in West ...Muslim culture...Middle East...and our 70 % population also have roots from central Asia...Bukhara...Balkh...as all great warriors came from there...we the hell care about indian culture...sub-continents roots...and norms....we are tied towards our western border rather than eastern border .....!!!!!!!

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

Stop joking. 90% of Pakistanis are converted Hindus.

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

No,... this never puts the thing in perspective....you are hopelessly trying to degrade India by giving personal examples of drowning oneself in booze etc...

be fair, while reading the article....I guess writer wants to convey some broader message rather than what you thought.

I know it's hard for Pakistanis to analyse with Indian example...that's why let's take example from Arab countries---your religious inspiration and guides...
Imagine a person living in Dubai and a person living in Saudi Arabia, according to your categorization Dubai should be the worst compared to Saudi Arabia.....because it's free and open society ???...if someone wants to drown oneself then only he should migrate to Dubai...otherwise heaven is only in Saudi....??

There are at least three popular pubs in Mumbai where, we live....but I hardly visited any of them...so how can I be drowned when it's upto me to decide??...

But since I never visited any of these pubs due to my belief...still I never demanded a "fat-waa" or "fat-woo' to close these...they are simply just another place which is not meant for me and my family......it all depends on individual...
Still, I never threatened my classmate visiting these pubs frequently that you will burn in hellfire.

There are many chicken and butcher shops near my house....but I am still 100% vegetarian....did that affected me or that shopowner??....

Allowing freedom in society through transparecy and fairness doesnot mean leading the society towards hell-fire....that's what the writer meant to say...through example.

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

Did u ask.

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

You should vist lahore some time.
You will atleast half a million sardars with colour full turbans on.
This year about 5000 are visiting for their "besakhi"

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

**I agree to u on those points.
We did make some serious progress in our yearly years. If that had continued pakistan would be like dubai or singapuer by now.

But once Morgan freeman said "you are what you do"(in a movie)
So I would say at that time(till 60s) we were learning some thing new.
Then we decided to do what we are(todays pakistan)**

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

All gupies please refrain from making personal and insulting remarks. Discuss the topic objectively if you can or go and play elsewhere.

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

i agree. pakistan was MUCH more liberal in the 60's. people dressed much more liberal, were able to stay out late nights. my dad used to tell me about public transportation that had uniformed bus conductors and women staying out late night without fear. post-zia.

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

^ also agree...but now..even a masson and carpentrer has a cable connection in his house and late night blue films are in full swing...an result is in front of us........... rape cases of 5 years old children are usual newspaper stories....

is this also happened in 60's whre even PTV was not initiated.....

when bed-room scenes are known by a child of 6 years...whats output you expect from a society ???????????

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

I think that is a different issue altogether.

what is being said here basically is that being a muslims meant an entirely different thing in the 1960's than what it does now.

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

If you go to Pakistani shaadi's you would still see a lot of liberalism in terms of dressing.

I think we can still dress nice and decent and yet it would be more along the modern lines as some people want it to be. But showing cleavages is simply against our faith, period. There are no arugments that fit here to try and justify it. If you do that you are quite frankly sinning as a muslim.

Our previous generation (the one the was either born or grew up in India) has the worst interpretations of Islam and quite frankly don't know zilch about their faith. Now were they progressive I would agree, they did not close their minds unconditionally. Todays people can do the same if they understood what their faith is about.

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

this is because.....times have changed....in 60's minds and souls were pure...but not now..including me.....media does play role.....

the same as universe was different with pre 9/11 and post 9/11 ......

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

Better question... Have you?

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

There are people in Pakistan who would say that they still enjoy many of the same liberties as anywhere else...
Ofcourse it depends on where in Pakistan you go... Some parts are more liberal then others obviously.
My wife is from a middle class family in Islamabad, and she enjoyed many liberties that perhaps even Muslim girls in India wouldnt. But even for her there is a limit, and the same for most Pakistanis. Pakistani have their own values, and liiberites fall within the confines of those values.
Everything is relative... Like someone said, somthings are acceptable in India society because they ARE Indians, while those same things would not be acceptable in Pakistan... We are not Indians and they are not Pakistanis.
The authors drawing an unfair comaprison by comparing apples and oranges.
Its a matter of preferance, if you like oranges, go eat oranges, if you like apples eat apples.
But in the end, Indians arent much more accpeting or tolerant then anyone else.
They have their issues which is plain for the world to see, except ofcourse for the author who is infatuated with the thought of being able to walk around in bell bottoms... More power to her.

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

No, I dont need to. I know for sure that 150 million or so Muslims living in India are not planning to go to Pakistan with whatever atrocities being committed by Hindu extremist. And I am very much certain that u pakistanies have no right to determine how Islamic they are.

Re: Sleeping 'Guards' of Delhi

I didnt ask if they wanted to come to Pakistan... Nor did I ask how Islamic they are, I could give a rats ass about how Islamic they are.... Question is, do you even know what happened to these people, where they are now, how their lives have changed... I mean, when you fellow countrymen rape and murder your family member before your eyes, I bet that would leave atleast some lasting impression on you... But then, im sure they still love their bharat ma.
You seem somewhat oblivious... And I dont think you know anything for sure...

Re: Sleeping ‘Guards’ of Delhi

i do see your point. i mean her article about how oppressive the pakistani government is did make it to pakistans major newspaper so one would wonder if the article being published at all speaks for itself :halo:
and also i do think women do walk around in sleeveless in the major cities of pakistan (they get stared at but then again the men also stare at the ones in half-sleeves) the media has become relatively more liberal than what it was a few years ago. basically for any girl that wants to wear a sleeveless outfit…she can…no one will persecute her for it. the rest of the girls have bigger issues to worry about than whether they should wear sleeveless or not.

Re: Sleeping ‘Guards’ of Delhi

Today they burned effigies of Richard geer for kissing Shilpa Shetty on stage (on the cheek). They also chanted something against Shilpa aswell…
Thats modern and liberal for you.

Re: Sleeping ‘Guards’ of Delhi

Well, Pakistani men can be pigs no doubt… But then on the other hand, Pakistani men are also very respectful of women aswell at some level, even if they stare the whole time.
And India isnt much better of… I have had Indian female friends recount tales of girls being groped on busses, or having to put up with vulgar comments…
