i agree. pakistan was MUCH more liberal in the 60's. people dressed much more liberal, were able to stay out late nights. my dad used to tell me about public transportation that had uniformed bus conductors and women staying out late night without fear. post-zia.
If you go to Pakistani shaadi's you would still see a lot of liberalism in terms of dressing.
I think we can still dress nice and decent and yet it would be more along the modern lines as some people want it to be. But showing cleavages is simply against our faith, period. There are no arugments that fit here to try and justify it. If you do that you are quite frankly sinning as a muslim.
Our previous generation (the one the was either born or grew up in India) has the worst interpretations of Islam and quite frankly don't know zilch about their faith. Now were they progressive I would agree, they did not close their minds unconditionally. Todays people can do the same if they understood what their faith is about.
