Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

Its not hunger, not thirst in a 17.5 hours summer days fasting, its the messed up sleep schedule that bothers me most. Especially during work hours. And I’m sure i’m not the only one with that.

How do you guyz cope up with that? Lets discuss.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

I didn't sleep tonight .. will fix my circadian rhythm

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

Thats exactly my schedule during weekends, no sleep during nights. But then weekdays come and it messes up badly

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

my story is same as yours. never find fasting difficult but the ramazan routine yes.
every day i battle to stay awake in office, urghh. i wash my face every few hours, get up from my seat every half hour and chat with colleagues,so that i don't doze off.
i try to get any amount of sleep i can after coming back to home, like hour or so in evening, 30-40 mins around 10pm, then i sleep for 2 hours at night before sehri time, and then few hours after fajar.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

Ya chunks of sleep… story of my 29-30 days :hinna:

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

Sleep when you come home, the wake and eat fitur and drink 8 glasses of water. Sleep then fir suhur only drink some more water then sleep. You could try sleeping tablets if it helps. But only 5 days left.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

Three hours in night. Then wake up in Sehri. After fajar, sleep for hour or more.
During work hours, my colleague comes at my room’s door step and say wake up… :hehe:
After work. I take 2 hours of sleep and then wake up an \hour before Iftar.

Weekend are blessing and I complete my whole week sleep.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

On weekdays when i sleep after sehri and wake up for work, the only thing that really helps me opening my eyes is a shower. Without it i totally feel like zombies

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

sleep in the lunch if you could.
sleep after work.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

I have plenty of time to sleep but still can't sleep...and it's making me very cranky.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

You need to program your body to sleep less in general. Maggie Thatcher only use to sleep 4 hours a night.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

The activity of hundreds of genes are stopped or altered when sleep is less than 6 hours a day. It is not recommended to sleep less than this. Recent studies have also suggested that it may even cause reduce the effectiveness of brain cell function.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

I am struggling towards the end.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

I envy ppl in UAE or even in Pak for having so much flexible working hours during Ramadhan. I believe they have like a half-day or so and get entire afternoon free to enjoy a long nap. Plus all the other fasting suitable environment mA :hinna:

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

During the end of ramzan I start to feel all the lost sleep catch up to me. I tend to shower in cooler water during those days to keep myself awake. What’s hardest is adjusting to your normal routine afterwards. This year, I’ve been sleeping in a lot since its holidays from uni, don’t know what I’m going to when next semester starts next week. :konfused:

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

:alhamd: I have a flexible schedule, especially in Ramadan. I get to work from home for a good part of the month. As for the rest, when I need to commute to the office, I’ll try to get sleep when I can. So that’s usually between 5-7 in the evening. Then whatever I can get otherwise. So I can usually get an hour between Maghrib/iftar and Isha, and then 2 hours between Isha/Taraweeh and Sehri. Then another 3 hours or so after Fajr.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

It’s official…we’re all Ramadan zombies. :e6:

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

It's difficult to cope when you don't get lot of sleep specially when you have to work too.

Thank goodness I have taken vacation time for last 2 weeks of Ramadhan this year.....but even with this, its not easy.
It takes time to fall asleep after Fajr, as body is full of Sehri food. the drinking of lots of water, tea, and food itself takes a toll, and I find I have to go to washroom due to drinking too much fluids. Na piyo to pyas lagaygi.

At night after Isha prayers and all, only get about 3-4 hrs of sleep, depending on time going to bed. Between reading all the namaz, and Quran, etc the day is long. But if possible, 3-4 hours sleep after Zuhr helps.

The short time between Iftari and Sehri means we're eating too much in short time. At Iftari hunger/thirst are in full force while in Sehri it's more of a forced type of food so that we can have some energy for the day.

On another note, now by the end of Ramadhan our bodies are starting to 'feel' weakness......

Allah hum sab pe asaaniyan fermaye aur hamaray pe rehem keray, to fullfil our religious ibadats. Ameen.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

Its those days again. Though its mid-Ramadan now but my sleep schedule is still messed up. The only help i’m getting is an hour delay I requested at work to start with. But the first half is still a heck of a sleepy one. :bummer:

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

I am working 9 hours a day… and Friday I get half day…

I skip Taraweeh when I feel I can not make it. I give my sleep priority though I don’t compromise on Fardh.

This is helping me.
