Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

Right there with you! I am really sleeping after Sehar and than when come home around 6ish through iftaar. The routine is not ideal.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

It was funny someone just walked in my office to discuss something and during that discussion i was yawning all the time and she goes like, you must be working all the weekend cuz you look so tired. And I was like, "umm..aan..well.. you know work stuff.. " LOL

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

At this point, what I'm doing is trying to sleep when I get the chance. So after Isha/Taraweeh until Sehri, then again after Fajr. I'm setting my meetings later. So I'm good if I get up between 7:30 and 8:30. Then after work hours until about Asr time.

Major problem.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

Arabs before Islam used to add a 3rd month after every 3 years in order to keep months within the same season. This was forbidden by Islam. Ramadan fasting was imposed in the 4th Centuary Hijra - when it started circa 4 February 626 and till the inteqal of the Prophet - it all came during Winter months with shorter fasting days!

And all of you guys are lazy office workers! How you can imagine a person working all day long in the hot sun in Pakistan in the fields or on a construction site can observe fast?

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

Really? How do you figure that?

According to IslamicFinder Calendar Conversion, it comes out to be July 24, 1229 C.E.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

It's a part and parcel of fasting. Think of it as being a part of extended sacrifice we do, and inshaAllah rack up rewards with Allah for even this because nothing that is done for the sake of Allah is without reward, even if it's an insignificant thing. Sleep is quite significant.

It is hard for sure, and require some creative time-management to balance out sleep hours.

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

Do it again and ask for 01 09 0004!

I meant to write 4th Hijri year and not the century

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

Muslims in Australia New Zealand and Argentina are enjoying their Ramadan while Muslims in Malaysia, Indonesia and Kenya are indifferent as are the Sri Lankan Muslims!

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

Muslims everywhere are enjoying Ramadhan regardless. The severity of weather or length only effects first couple of days.

If you want to have that feel, join the party first ;)

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

20 hours fasting here dear....

4 hour window to eat...

sleep for 4 hours....

get over it....its tough with most rewards...30 days not the end of life...

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

true...feelings only for first 3 days

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

If they do enjoy - why they expect concessions? Why reduced work hours in the Gulf and Pakistan etc?

Re: Sleep deprivation in Ramadan..

For people living in those conditions - there should be some relaxation - move your fasting to the nearest equinox.
