Has anyone else had this issue? It never used to be a problem until last year or so. How do I solve this? It freezes every damn thing unless Skype is pretty much running on its own

Both. Eg if I have skype on I can barely watch Youtube sometimes. I thought it was the browser but Chrome is hardly better.

What are the specs of your computer? RAM, space, OS version?

Time to install Linux :)
Best option....install older version of Skype.
Make sure Skype is excluded d from firewall.

Older version of Skype (desktop version vs the app on Windows 8).
Also, it may just be an issue with your pc’s memory. If you’re running a loaded OS + other apps, skype is HUGE and will def slow everything down.
Aside from the system, if web browsing is slow when Skype is running… it could just be your net speed. Run a speed test before you open skype, after you’ve started a skype call, and after an hour or more on the same call.
I remember when I used to skype, after a couple hours, if I didn’t disconnect and reconnect the call (cam or just voice), everything else got REALLY slow!

have happened to me once. All I did was uninstalled the Skype, restarted my computer and then install it back again
