Oovoo. ^ from what I remember it's a much smaller program. And it supports group video feature without having to pay.

Your hard disk is playing up! either its old you made it look old. Check read write capability with any those hard disk tune utilities. Those disks get dead early.

I am running 512 Samsung pro SSD. never had a delay in anything. Although running core i7 with 16 GB RAM (11 GB used currently), everything is smooth.

Tested the result of ssd on a 3 year old slow end core i3 with 4 GB RAM. its flying and no complains.

Aaho I copied pasted everything. And it was never an issue until a few months ago. I looked for old versions of Skype but couldn't find it :(

turn off auto update once signed in..if it lets you sign in from older version.
