That’s sad.
But does he understand that it bothers you? I’ve noticed that Pakistanis in particular will bluntly compare people and tell you you lack something or have too much of another, without really understanding that what they are saying is hurtful and embarrassing.
If his comments bother you, you should let him know.

i dont get it either, sahar. there are people i know who are SO bothered by things like lack of height, too much height (wtf?), fairness, shape of eyes, shade of skin, thickness of hair etc.
my fiance is 6'7" and i'm 5'2" and the first thing people said wasn't "oh how lovely, you've found your soulmate, congratulations!" but "you're completely physically incompatible". scuse me??? i think we'll figure out the physical part on our own, thank you very much.
it really ticks me off- who cares what your skin color is, or how tall you are, or how thin you are- oh man, thin. that REALLY ticks me off. i'd like to know how many anorexia/bulimia sufferers there are in pakistan. theres more pressure to be thin over there than in north america, and north america has a ton of pressure!
hayatkhans- you should definitely let your hubby know how his comments make you feel. maybe ask him when he's going to successfully get a tan since tans are so much hotter looking.

being fair is not all that ur not more beautiful then a person who has a nice tanny colour i wish i had a tan type colour but u dont see me baking myself under the sun
be happy with who u r is ur fiance fair himself? oh he isnt cos i have seen ur engagment pics and first thing that popped up in my head isoh she is very pretty so plz stop takin the mick out urself by saying such things like i want plastic surgery i want fair skin be happy u have a healthy life and u can do wat u want cos there r ppl in the world who cant even do that

I think its the dominance of Europeans over Indian, where they find themselves superior to the people darker than themselves. I guess its the legacy that we continue.

stuff like this is so upsetting to hear i cant even imagine how you must feel.... was this an arranged marriage? and if so, why didn't it bother them before? (not like it should bother them at all). and if not, why doesnt he have the guts to tell them all to mind their own business and stand by his wife?

That’s really too bad. If something so superficial really mattered to him, he shouldn’t have pursued the marriage.
I hope that despite this, he is a good and kind husband. Hopefully he can get past his family’s idiotic bias and see what really matters.
