Thats what Jinnah wanted... He knew that huge exodus (largest in history) would only work against Pakistan because of its infancy and lack of resources, not to mention the communal riots that ensued afterwards.
Pakistan’s first civilian dictator Jinnah was more loyal to his Hindustani friends than to the people of the Sindh province where he was born. He had dismissed the mayor of Karachi Ayub Khuro to appease his Hindustani friends because Khuro was against the separation of Karachi from Sindh. Ayub Khuro and other Sindhi leaders were already afraid that the huge influx of Indian immigrants to Sind and especially to Karachi would change the demography of the province and the idea of its separation from Sindh was another big anathema to Sindhis. It was also Jinnah who declared that Urdu will be the national language of Pakistan although Sindhis and also Bengalis had strongly opposed his decision, he himself could not utter a single sentence in this language. Balochestan’s official language was Balcoh before Pak annexed it and imposed Urdu on them.
^ Urdu was perfect as the national language, you are forgetting its not indeginous to any other province, so its fair.
But the people of Sindh, Balochestan and NWFP want to speak their own languages and nobody care whether Urud is an indigenous language to any province or not. Did Pakistanis learn anything from the debacle of east Pakistan?
Pashto, Sindhi and Balochi should be accepted as national languages alongwith English and Punjabis and Mohajers can have their own 'great' Urdu language.
Without the help of urdu speaking muslims Pakistan would never have been created. Also without their help the country would not have survived. .
That's true...What's the solution then?? to cry about 1947 or to forget and stop the funding of those who want to destroy this federation of ethicities and go bisirk killing each other.
I guess solution lies in equal distribution of responsibilites and resources and allowing each other to exist.
If that is not possible then stop killing each other in the name of co-existance as a cohesive society i.e Pakistan.
Was it fair to Bengalis...No...& they seperated..Why do you want to dictate your own will onto others??
Yes it was, if you say it wasnt fair to bengaliz, then it wasnt fair to the other four provinces either. None of the four provinces can claim its 'their' language. A nation without one national language cant be a nation.
Hindi is not the only official language, but one of the 22 official languages of India. Hindi - Wikipedia
We are failing miserably while comparing ourselves with India. We are falling far behind them. Today India is one of the top tourist destination in the world. Pakistan has been among the top extremists destination for the last many decades now.
