Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

This is one of the reason why people still vote for PPP. It is always upheld and respect the wishes of majority of Pakistanis.

Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

ARACHI: In the absence of members of the opposition and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the Pakistan Peoples Party on Thursday managed to unanimously pass a resolution in the Sindh Assembly against the division of the province or formation of new admnistrative units.

The resolution was jointly moved by Sohail Akbar and other PPP members in the backdrop of a recent demand by the MQM to create more administrative units in Sindh.

Earlier, the opposition staged a walkout after Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza did not allow Shahyar Mehar to move a resolution.

The dispute began on allotment of seats in the new assembly hall as the opposition objected that its members were not allotted seats together.

The opposition member and treasury benches exchanged heated words and the hall then echoed with slogans “Marsoon Marsoon Sindh Na Desoon”.

MQM members boycotted the session in protest against the arrest of its workers overnight.

Re: Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

and you missed the main they passed resolution in absence of members of the opposition and MQM. is this democracy????

Re: Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

Has this resolved the matter once and for all? Surely "Not".

It would be achievement for PPP (and justification for their election / selection by people of Sindh), if they take actions which prove that division of Sindh is not a solution and people can live prosperously without this division. Bringing changes, empowering people is the only solution against such demands. Otherwise, just passing resolution doesn't matter much. We know the matters for which provincial and national assemblies have passed resolutions and the those matters are still there.

Re: Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

Hassan nisar had some choice words for this marsoon marsoon b*****t ! :hehe:

Anyway, pretty much sindh and balochistan have passed resolutions and it is dead in punjab with pml-n. I don’t know if KPK would allow it with no one else doing it.

Fine, don’t do it. But I would withhold any khairat etc (all expat pakistanis should) to show the idiots that the status quo won’t be supported by us. EDITED!

Re: Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

MQM has always worked against the interests of Sindh since decades. A longtime ago they trumpeted 'Jinahpur' dividing Sindh in Urban and rural setup later they denied of having such project. Now again this nonsense has come up. The way they spread terrorism in urban areas of Sindh particularly targeting Karachi, PPP not came to your expectations in regard to serving people, still much much much better than these ethnic haters.

Re: Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

You are telling lie.

THE statements by two important personalities associated with the 1992 operation that the Jinnahpur conspiracy was fabricated come as a startling disclosure.
For over 17 years, the people of Karachi have been made to suffer on that account.
While the raging controversy raises many questions, it is the role of the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif that has come to the forefront once again.
The PML(N)'s insistence that Mr Sharif was not taken into confidence at the start of the operation reminds one of the Kargil controversy.
Can it be that Mr Sharif had absolutely no idea of the impending operation when the whole country had a fair idea through the print media?
This does not absolve the then prime minister of his role in the operation in which over 15,000 people have been alleged to be killed, for if Mr Sharif was not taken on board at the start, it is his role in the subsequent events that need to be ascertained.
Why did he not put his foot down then and stop the madness when he got the knowledge of the operation?
Further, if the whistle blower (then IB director-general Brig Imtiaz) had found within a week that the Jinnahpur conspiracy was nothing but a figment of imagination of a few, then why didn’t Mr Sharif give a statement to that effect then and bury the controversy?
Fast forward 15 years to 2007, the APC convened by Mr Sharif, on the host’s insistence declared that no party would get into any sort of understanding with the MQM.
This was clearly a move to isolate the MQM from mainstream politics. Such shenanigans on the part of the former prime minister only go on to strengthen the general belief in Karachi that Nawaz Sharif had an axe to grind with the MQM.
The nation is waiting for an answer, Mr. Sharif.

Re: Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

Lets see, PTI, PML(N), JUI (F), JUP (Noorani) and all others political parties of Sindh have also opposed this division. if MQM which is a minority in this setup opposed it, why do you think it is not a democracy. Majority rules, is the principle of democracy.

Re: Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

opposition n mqm should be present for resolution n then decision should be taken tht is democracy.

Re: Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

I don't lie like many here. If that is the situation why mqm staged walked out of this resolution? I think you are the one not telling the truth.

Administrative Units in Sindh: Opposition to submit resolution against MQM demand today – The Express Tribune

KARACHI:

The opposition parties in Sindh will submit a resolution against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) demand to set up administrative units in Sindh in the assembly today. The issue may be taken up during the upcoming session on Thursday.

The opposition parties, nationalists, writers and activists in Sindh have joined hands to condemn the MQM’s demand, saying they will not support any unconstitutional demands that are a direct threat to the integrity of Pakistan. The decision was made during an all-parties conference, convened by the Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) and Jamiat-e-Ulema Pakistan (JUP), at the residence of JUP secretary-general Maulana Owais Ahmed Noorani on Tuesday.

The resolution will be submitted on Wednesday, confirmed Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) MPA and the opposition leader in the assembly Shaharyar Mahar. “It [resolution] will clarify who supports it and who does not,” he said.

“A historical consensus was built today when not even a single party supported such demand,” claimed QAT president Ayaz Latif Palijo. “This is an unacceptable demand to the people of Sindh.”

Palijo said that the participants at the conference agreed that the future of Sindh and the rest of the country should not be compromised for the sake of political and personal interests. “The country is facing a number of political, social and economic issues,” Palijo read out from the resolution signed at the conference. “Thousands of people are homeless due to the floods and the ongoing operation against terrorists. There is inflation, unemployment, and terrorism.”

**More than 20 parties, including Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), PML-F, Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Jamaat-e-Islami, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Sindh United Party, Balochistan National Party, Awami National Party, Sunni Tehreek, Pashtoonkhwa Mili Awami Party, PPP-Shaheed Bhutto, Kutchi Rabita Committee and others participated in the conference, which was also attended by former Sindh chief ministers, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Liaquat Ali Jatoi.
**
“Neither urban Sindhi nor rural Sindh is in favour of a division of Sindh as it is an issue of Pakistan’s integrity,” said PTI provincial president Nadir Akmal Laghari. “Sindh’s division won’t be accepted.” Laghari claimed the MQM demand will spread hatred.

Meanwhile, PML-N Sindh president Muhamamd Ismail Rahoo said that no one would be allowed to weaken the Constitution. “It is a historical consensus in the history of Pakistan that all parties are united against the division of Sindh,” he said.

“We have repeated again and again that it is an unacceptable demand,” said PML-F’s Mahar. Dr Rahim also claimed that the people of Sindh do not want a division. The chief minister has a majority in the assembly and no one can stop any political party if it has a majority, he said.

“There is no space for new provinces in the country,” said Jatoi. “It is the result of rigging that a political party dares to demand a separate province,” he added. “We’ll fight till our last breath but won’t accept it.”

The ruling PPP’s Senator Saeed Ghani also ruled out the creation of new administrative units. “The demand is out of question,” he said.

MQM wants to ‘reorganise’ Sindh

The MQM insisted, however, that it never called for the division of Sindh. MQM leader Farooq Sattar told The Express Tribune that he fails to understand why political parties are opposing the formation of administrative units in Sindh.

“Are they holding such events because of their animosity towards the MQM?” Sattar said his party never called for division of Sindh. “We want Sindh to be reorganised. In fact, the entire country should be reorganised,” he said, adding this was a century of decentralisation since economy dictates politics. “Decentralisation does not mean the division of any existing province but it means more autonomy and administrative powers,” he said.

Re: Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

I am just saying when opposition was not in assembly then passing resolution, no democracy???

Re: Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

This joker on TV is using bad language for everyone since long time except MQM. Perhaps for him MQM is bunch of Angels directly descended from heaven. Or he is a coward b@st@rd to say anything against this cult of killers and bhattakhors, because of fear of ‘bori’. He is the most stupid anchor on TV, and certain people take him this fraud as savior of Pakistan. He should be a good ‘neta’ in a Bollywood movie.

Re: Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

The opposition passed above resolution, what else you want?

It was ok to divide Pakistan when it was going in PPP's favor, and it's fine to refuse the division of Sindh when it's going in their favor. This is no democracy, it's a mob rule people.

Re: Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

Re: Sindh Assembly passes resolution against division of Sindh

PPP and Noon League will never accept division of provinces.

For obvious reasons. :)
