I'm going to be a bit more specific, and stir the pot

Exploitation / Suffering by religion: Hindus: Sati,child brides..., Muslim: Verbal divorce, 4 wives...
Society: Expects women to raise babies, cook food, look after husband and even all the inlaws (and these days even earn..)
Tribal: Vani, Honour killing....
Culture: Women is the underdog in everything, compared to men...

Still not comments.........?

first of all, dosnt the verbal divorce work both ways? having 4 wives is possible if the first agrees to it, then the 1st and 2nd agree for a third...etc...etc...

if you wanna blame some1, blame the women who dont educate themselves about their rights, all it takes is 1 person to start a movement...ya heard wat big bird said?

Some ppl say taht u can divorce ur wife by txting her "talak talak talak"..
And many maintain that the wife's permission is NOT needed to take another wife.

We work the hardest jobs...Ever seen a woman breaking rocks or go on a hunting raid or take up weapons to defend her tribe or be the first to die in a battelfield...

Throughout history in every war, thousands and millions of men would die but hardly a woman...It's about time they became equal and stepped into the battlefield...

But this suggestion is only for those women who are habitually miserable, aka feminists...

My advice to all men: If you ever marry a woman who is a feminist and miserable and desires equality, then give them equality...Start treating them, behaving with them and talking to them as if they were guys...

Punch them a few times like you would your male friends...Play the same practical jokes with them that guys play on each other...

In other words, treat her like a man...I am sure pretty soon she'd want to be a woman again with 'unequal' rights...

And yes, Muslims do ABUSE the idea of talaq..
Islam isn't the problem, Muslims are. As much as you love to think it, pakistanis and Muslims aren't your farishtay who can do no wrong.. its nice to c how pissed off you guys get when mistakes are brought out into the opeN :)

how do u abuse the idea of talaq? if u wanna divorce, saying it means abusing it? No Pakistani Muslim arent faristay..just American Pakistani women r.
Nothing compares to the mental torture women put men thru everyday for however long the human species has existed.

^ Uhmm from what I know, divorce is a process, rather than just a quick action, like yelling it in a fight, or text msging it.. If it really was so simple as repeating it, then there would be ALOT more divorces in the world

They have chance to reconcile and all that. I remember reading about divorce and how to go about it in the Quran, but it has slipped my mind, Its in Surah Baqarah i think.

^ I know , divorce is a really long process and its a really major decision, that's why its not as simple as text msging someone and bam u get a divorce..

I think its sheer insanity to compare men and women. A peach cannot be compared with a mango! Both are fruits with different tastes. One is supposed to simply follow what Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'lah) has ordained. Here I would like to refer to a Hadith according to which if a man does not offer his Salah (namaz), the wife can ask him politely. If he does'nt, then she can only pray for him. On the other hand if a woman does not offer Salah, the husband shall ask her to do so. If she does'nt, the husband has the right to be hard on her.............. Its for you to understand!

The paradox is that divorce is much more common in states where it is a long process in the courts compared to places where it is simply said three times.

And i agree that women have been exploited since times immemorial, every week being has been, no matter how does one make divorce diffcult or easy.
