marry US Pakistani men instead? Harder visa standards, most of them on an H1B, at the top of the socioeconomic ladder in the US…why not?
Complains not accepted from Mirpuris for obvious reasons

From what I've heard and read in the papers, particularly about the Mirpuri community in Bradford, a large percentage of marriages in that community are between cousins as the primary preference within their community is to marry within the family. It's possible that this is part of the reason they don't marry men based in the United States. I've also read that many of those marriages (enough to constantly be discussed in the papers) aren't exactly voluntary (under family pressure).
Of course, this does not apply to everyone within that community though (at least, I would hope not).
Re: Since 80% of the complaints here are from UK Pakistani women....why don't they
Or maybe just marry UK Muslims from different ethnic groups?

Stupid, ignorant generalisation.
Re: Since 80% of the complaints here are from UK Pakistani women....why don't they
Yup I was just kidding! I didn't expect ppl to put their hand up.
Re: Since 80% of the complaints here are from UK Pakistani women....why don't they
UK Pakistanis are a special bunch, lets just leave it at that.
Re: Since 80% of the complaints here are from UK Pakistani women....why don't they
Btw, what exactly is the purpose of this thread? I mean uk ppl would and could only ever marry ppl from the us provided they somehow got to know them and became interested in getting married. This is kinda difficult being in two completely different countries!
Re: Since 80% of the complaints here are from UK Pakistani women....why don't they
What makes you think US Pakistani men are any better?
Re: Since 80% of the complaints here are from UK Pakistani women....why don't they

Ummm how exactly?
Re: Since 80% of the complaints here are from UK Pakistani women....why don't they
And I dont get it, whats wrong with being mirpuri?
Re: Since 80% of the complaints here are from UK Pakistani women....why don't they
Will tell you after you confirm
Re: Since 80% of the complaints here are from UK Pakistani women....why don't they
Well 50% of the UK Pakistani population is Mirpuri and 80% of them according to an NHS study marry their FIRST cousins. A culture of inbreeding and back home marriages means this is an intra community issue, not one that could be resolved by the greater UK Pakistani community.
To me the demographci and poor migration law of Britain and 50% of the UK Pakistani population being Mirpuri is like having the UK or US population being representative from the demographic of a small town in Arkansas or Slough...it's not very representative and to draw conclusions from it would be a huge false positive.
Also why is the US UK divide so great that Pakistani spouses are better? Most South Asian Americans earn more than even whites, Arab and Persian Americans are the most educated minorities in the US. Muslim American spouses have the least educational disparity with Muslim women slightly more educated in the post-bacc matriculation. It seems like we don't have the huge cultural, gender issues of the UK and rest of Europe. We are also an English speaking country with less restricted tavel between our countries. It seems to be pretty convenient if you ask me, and a lot easier than the issues you get with going 'back home.'

How commonplace the practice of going "back home" for a spouse is within a community depends on the country the community in question is located in. Certain countries discourage immigration via marriage and are quite restrictive, making it rather impossible to bring someone back from abroad via marriage. I was born in Denmark, which is extremely restrictive in regards to marriage visas, and lived there until my early teens. I noticed that in communities in Denmark, people either marry someone locally or from a different ethnic group and rarely go "back home." In the rare instances that people married someone from abroad, it was the Danish spouse who moved to their home country to live with their spouse. My husband was raised in Holland and he's mentioned that communities there are the same way as Holland has numerous requirements that must be met before bringing a spouse to Holland from another country.
I think the reason certain communities in the UK are so insular and marry from abroad so frequently is the rather lax requirements for marriage visas in the UK which make it so easy to do so.
