Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

The current situation made some people believe that there are huge huge differences between these two major sects of Islam (talking of Pakistani society to be specific).

Some people say that the differences are not about sharia they follow, but some historical disputes.

Leaving asides these differences, lets talk about the similarities between these two sects (without saying anything negative about each other).

I start… Both sects offer prayers for 5 times. Some people believe that Fiqah e Jafria people have 3 times of prayers ( they have azaan for 3 times in their mosques). They offer Asr with Zuhr (call it Zohrain), Isha with Maghrib (call it Maghriben).

Re: Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

Zohrain and Maghribain also has some historical significance, as during the Hajj I believe Zohr/Asr and Maghrib/Isha are combined.

Re: Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

There are a few questions that I have, not sure whether I'd ask them here or not.

Re: Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

Go get it cleared, if it contributes towards positive relationship between different sects. There are many people who highlight differences to convey what they want to prove, but it seems that talking of similarities is a difficult job (when there are so many similarities).

Re: Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

Yes, Zohrain & Maghribain are performed during Hajj.

I think if we look at basic arkaan e deen (like Roza, haj, Zakaat, Namaz, etc), we will find that there are no big differences.

if the base is totally different then no matter how similar practices look like... u cant expect to have this discussion.

Re: Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

why base is different. ek hi Allah, ek hi Rasool, ek hi Quran.

Re: Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

hope we don't get more heating comments and people banned this time.

Re: Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

why afraid when talking of similarities, when we love to talk against without being this much considerate?

I've read that Imam Hanifa was a student of Imam Jafar, so there bound to be many similarities in both Fiqahs. I've practically seen this that the views for a particular matter were similar from scholars of both the sects in Geo TV's program Aalim Online.

Moreover, Quran invited ihl e kitaab to talk about similarities, then why this can't be done for two different sects of same religion?

Re: Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

Imam Jafar was a sunni. It is the shia who consider him to be an " imam" for some reason.

again like I said when your aqeeda is world's apart then don't matter how many similarities you have...

Re: Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

Strange that they follow a Sunni Imam and their aqeeda is different world apart from Sunnis.

Why can’t we draw an equation like Shia sect - Historical Differences = Sunni sect (with some minor differences in minute details).

Re: Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

Point to be noted:

The conflict which some claim exists today between Sunni and Shia Muslims is a product of very recent global events; **blowback from the 1979 Iranian Revolution and the petro-dollar fuelled global rise of Wahhabi reactionaries. It is decidedly not the continuation of any “1,400 year war” between Sunnis and Shias but is driven instead by the very modern phenomena of identity politics. Factions on both sides have created false histories for their own political benefit and have manufactured symbols and rituals which draw upon ancient history but are in fact entirely modern creations. **Furthermore, Western military powers have sought to amplify these divisions to generate internecine conflicts within Muslim societies and engineer a bloodbath which will be to their own benefit.

Re: Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

Good thread muqawee.

But from some experiance that i have in these discussions one thing is for sure, you can not have harmony unless both sides show respect for others. lets work toward removing the curse of tabrra on some great (according to ahl e sunnah)sahbaha :razi: and inshallah every thing else if it remains like this will not create the enmosity(if this is the correct word  ) amongst us.

Shias may also share if we sunni show disrepect of some aal e bayt (which i dont think any sunni will do).

Re: Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

I do agree that both sides should show respect for each other. Misconception between two sects regarding faiths can be eradicated when similarities are highlighted.

Re: Similarties between Fiqah e Jafria and Fiqah e Hanfia

These are basic pillars of Islam. As Muslims, we know that we will be asked for these things on day of judgement.

Aren’t these pillars followed in similar manner to big extent by both the sects?
