Perhaps.
But where do you think the idea of God came from if not the Jews? Or Christians?
"idea of God" didn't come from a Jew or Christian. I am sure you didn't mean that Jew or Christian is "first" to introduce belief of "God".

The Bible/Torah says that God did indeed rest on the seventh day.

Now I know the origin of those jokes "God rested after creating men, but never rested after creating women" :D

As do muslims on their saturday. Why shouldn't God rest?....
Because there are great deal of differences. "Muslims" are human being, needing a "sleep" for brain to work properly. God does not consume food like us, He doesn't need rest.

Changez_like, the word translated as "rest" in the Bible actually means "to desist". After creating humans, God has finished His creational work he set Himself to do. Does not mean He rested because He was tired.
Anyway: We know too little about God to state that He can't take a "rest" (in whatever form) now and then - if He wants to. By deciding what God can and can't do, we are meddling in stuff we no nothing of.
In Heb.3v16-4v11 God's rest is equated with peace and salvation.
k... we aren't even allowed to eat lunch at the same table as the jews are .... i read that somewhere in an islamic book..... consider this.... allah(swt) doesn't even give jews their own land... that shows that allah(swt) didn't .... oh....... you know what i mean............
What the other prophets preached was true, for their time and people. If I'm correct, some were sent for one tribe, others for the other tribe.
But Mohammed (pbuh) was sent for all man kind. He had perfected the religion. I don't remember where I read this, which aya? Can anybody help please?
Parts of the Bible and Tora are still true, there for many similarities between them and Quran. But the Quran is the finall message, the final word for all mankind, not for one tribe, but for the whole world.
Quran *21:107* We sent thee not but as a mercy for all creatures.
Yusuf Ali Commentary:
There is no question now of race or nation, of a "chosen people" or the "seed of Abraham"; or the "seed of David"; or of Hindu Arya-varta; of Jew or Gentile, Arab or 'Ajam (non-Arab), Turk or Tajik, European or Asiatic, White or Coloured; Aryan, Semitic, Mongolian, or African; or American, Australian, or Polynesian. To all men and creatures other than men who have any spiritual responsibility, the principles universally apply.
also see....
Quran *25:1*
*Blessed is He Who sent down the Criterion to His servant that it may be an admonition to all creatures *

I think I quite agree with Yusuf Ali. At least in the way I learned to hear and understand.
Except for the last part....
To all men and creatures other than men who have any spiritual responsibility..
What does that mean exactly?
What is spiritual responsibility?
Isn't it up to God to determine if one is spiritually responsible?
if this thread was “similarity between Hindus and Muslims” you would have problem and say “why not Muslims and Jews” or “why not this and that”. don’t you guys have anything else to do besides complaining?
