Also has anyone ever made puff pastry at home?

Most probably they are the same ... to my knowledge its tasteless , i mean its got bland taste .... and is used in the drinks as well ...

**Chicken Tikka Short Cut Recipe **

Ok Guys .. here is the easiest Chicken Tikka recipe … I dont have enough space at home to BBQ the tikka’s and wait for all that time and turn and toss them etc … so I worked out this recipe and i think its delicious , but do let me know of your thoughts :

In a blender add a chopped onion, one teaspoon ginger paste, one teaspoon garlic paste, one teaspoon salt, half a teaspoon red chilli powder, one teaspoon of tandoori chicken shan masala ( optional ) , two green chillies , some dhaniya , one cup yoghurt … and blend it all to a fine , fine paste …

Preheat the over for 3 minutes , in the oven dish , add the paste to the boneless chicken pieces , mix it all well and put it in the oven on low-medium heat … and let it be for 20 minutes … occasionally stir it to change the chicken sides …

TIP : ensure the oven is on the low-medium heat , coz the only purpose of doing the oven bit is for the chicken to get that tikka texture , if the heat is medium or high , the tikka’s will get too dry and loose their juiciness …

after about 20-25 minutes , take out the tikkas ( it should still be watery coz of the yoghurt and the onion paste ) … shift it all in a pot on the stove and stir it on high heat so the water will evaporate …

In the meantime put a coal on the stove flame …

once the tikka’s look dryly coated with the thick mixture , you can add a bit of yellow food color ( optional) … put the highly burning coal in a cup and place it in the middle of the pot, pour some oil on top of the coal and quickly cover the pot and let it be … put off the flame and dont uncover the pot for the next 20 minutes …

your tikka’s are ready … let me know guys if this recipe works for you … your feedback will help me understand if others will like the tikka’s made this way ..:omg:

CB asked me how I made my chicken ka salan. Though I still don’t think ke it’s anything special. Lakin here’s how I make it:

First I saute the onions and cloves of sliced garlic+cinnamon stick+1 black cardamom. I never brown my onions, because I don’t like the colour or texture that browned onions give to a salan. Add chicken pieces to it and fry for a couple of minutes. Add salt, red mirch powder, turmeric powder, tomatoes to it. Cover with the lid and let cook on low heat for 7-10 minutes or until you think that the chicken has become tender.

Now remove the lid. Add garlic paste or chopped garlic(whichever you like), coriander powder, black pepper powder, dahi and bhoonify it until the oil seperates etc. and the chicken is done.
(actually I always use coarsely ground coriander as that gives the best flavour to a curry, as opposed to the fine powder in market. And I always try to use freshly ground ingredients)

Now remove from heat. Add some butter to it. Garnish with fresh coriander and finely chopped green chillies. If you wish, you can sprinkle a little garam masala too.

I'm in Dubai too! I'm adding the recipe for "Dhuwan Chicken" it turned out really good..(or so my family says, too bad im a vegetarian!)

1 chicken
1 tsp zeera pwd
1 tsp dhania pwd
1 tsp red chilli pwd
1 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp black pepper
salt.
ginger/garlic paste

U cook all the above in a pot till the chicken is done..ud be left with little gravy though.

2 cups yoghurt, beat this really well with salt and zeera pwd and finely chopped mint and coriander.. now layer u're meat with the yoghurt along with 2 tablespoons of ghee.

Cover and cook on "dum" for 10 mins... and give "dhungaar" (place a piece of coal on foil and drizzle with oil)

Wow thanks Gina , this surely sounds interesting .. I noticed there isnt any onion or tomato used in the chicken , so it surely is different .. I am gonna try it soon and let you know of the outcome …

If it aint good .. then :asa:
… and if it turns out delicious then

:omg:
