Sikhs' mission is to Kill all Muslims?

shahzadqu - :k: jazaakAllah khair for your response my friend.

I appreciate you being so generous with your time. I’m sure it took you more than a minute to get that info together for us

:halo:

Irem, i believe that the concept that u mentioned orignated back in the days too, just because the hatred toward the muslims. we never find out wut moghal emporers did in their time in Pakistan. We only hear wut Sikhs did. I am not taking any sides, both sides were wrong in my point of view and i don't know who started and i dont' think there is a point in arguing that either. but i think the concept that Sikhs will not cut their hair until all muslims are dead orignated within the Sikh culture. The people who were not literate about the teachings of their religions must've came up with this idea.

You can see exactly the same examples in Islam. We've some F##ed up concepts that im not gonna discuss about that completely conflict everything that Quarn teaches.

u r right bro :k:

I don’t understand how irem got ganji. Poor irem:crying:

LOL @ ------^

lolllll…its just funny ok…no direct harm is intended

Coming back to the topic…
Some Info about Guru Nanak:

Sikhism was founded by Guru Nanak at the end of the 15th century. It originated in the area of Pakistan and North West India called Punjab. Guru Nanak was born in a Kshatriya (warrior caste) Hindu family but was very strongly influenced by Islam and Muslims.

The word ‘Sikh’ is derived from the word sisya meaning disciple or follower. Sikhism is a religion of ten Gurus, the first Guru being Guru Nanak and the tenth and the last being Guru Gobind Singh. The sacred book of Sikhism is Sri Guru Granth also called Adi Granth Sahib.

CONCEPT OF GOD IN SIKHISM:

MULMANTRA: THE FUNDAMENTAL CREED OF SIKHISM

The best definition that any Sikh can give regarding the concept of God in Sikhism is to quote the Mulmantra – the fundamental creed of Sikhism, which occurs at the beginning of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

It is mentioned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib, volume 1 Japuji, the first verse:

“There exists but one God, who is called The True, The Creator, Free from fear and hate, Immortal, Not begotten, Self-Existent, Great and Compassionate.”

Sikhism is a monotheistic Religion

Sikhism enjoins its followers to practise strict monotheism. It believes in only One Supreme God who is, in the unmanifest form, called Ek Omkara.

In the manifest form He is called Omkara and has several attributes such as:

Kartar – The Creator
Akal – The Eternal
Sattanama – The Holy Name
Sahib – The Lord
Parvardigar – The Cherisher
Rahim – The Merciful
Karim – The Benevolent

He is also called Wahe Guru – the One true God.

Besides Sikhism being strictly monotheistic, it also does not believe in Avataravada – the doctrine of incarnation. Almighty God does not incarnate Himself in what is known as Avatara. Sikhism is also strongly against idol worship.

Guru Nanak was influenced by the mystical poet Sant Kabir so much that several chapters of Sri Guru Granth Sahib contain couplets of Sant Kabir. The Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scriptures of the Sikh religion, contains over 500 verses of Kabir’s mystical poetry.

One of the famous couplets of Sant Kabir is:

“Dukh mein sumirana sabh karein
Sukh mein karein na koya
Jo sukh mein sumirana karein
To dukh kaye hoye?”

“In times of trouble, God is remembered by all
But none remembers Him during peace and happiness.
If God is remembered in good times of happiness
Why should trouble occur?”

Compare this with the following verse of the Qur’an:

“When some trouble toucheth man,
He crieth unto his Lord,
Turning to Him in repentance:
But when He bestoweth
A favour upon him
As from Himself,
(Man) doth forget what he cried
And prayed for before,
And he doth set up
Rivals unto Allah.”
[Al-Qur’an 39:8]

The Sikh scriptures therefore emphasise monotheism and God-consciousness. Sikhism is not against Muslims.

Some Useful links:

I am qouting the last paragraph of the second link:

Baba Nanak, in one of his Janam Sakhis he says that he had it revealed to him by God that the religion of Islam is true. It was because of this that he went on pilgrimage to Makka, and adopted all the tenets of Islam. His sacred relics at Dera Baba Nanak bear the clearest testimony to his profession of the Islamic Kalima, “There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is His Prophet”, and those at Guru Har Sahai in the Ferozepore District, include a copy of the Holy Quran. He also proclaimed that enmity to Islam was enmity to the light that comes from heaven.

:k: Thanks Axiom

:halo:

Axiom, thanks very very much bro, jazakalah :k: :k: :k:

Sikhs are one of the best people I've come across - culture courage and sacrifice. I hope your friend said what he / she said about them as a (naive) joke. If not you can perform a a great service to your friend by correcting such impression.

The person is more of an acquaintance than a friend and, believe it or not, they themselves were sikh! This is the only reason i even remember it today. If it were someone who i didn’t think had first hand info i would have let it go in one ear and out the other.

thanks for your comments =)

Oh my God the best kept secret is out.
Well, I already did my mission assignement and now I am free man...clean shaven, no pagg, no kachha:)

Matsui: I still wear a kaRa though...so I am not done with Brahmins yet. 23 more to go...yahooooooooooo where is my kirpan today?

Oirginal poster: Do you really believe a Sikh with beard and turban will come to you and seriously tell you his best kept inner most secret just like that? If he really did we have another secret regarding that..and that is to kill such a person on spot. Tell your friend this second secret now.:)

Channji, Kill a brahmin make a dollah! Can you hollah..!!

Anyway, When I was a little boy in Delhi. Our neighbors, this gujarati girl who used to babysit me put a kaRa on my hand. I had it until I was 10 and then had to go to a blacksmith to have it cut off. I have not worn a kaRa since. But I do have a dangerous kirpan.

Sikh's are the one of the most family oriented, altruistic, enterprising, and affable people in the world. Somehow, I think these factors escaped the poster.

They're quite good at running post offices too.

Mad: You should see the unemployment lines in Bradford man…it is full o fsikhs…NOT

It’s funny how you choose which posts you read before attacking. It’s also funny how you’re doing the same thing you accuse irem of doing. Neither of us would think to deam a group of people closed minded aggressors yet you insist on giving us that stamp. When did either of us debate sikhs being family oriented (or the rest of ur list)?? How then can you say that this escaped us?

3arab...to some facing a stone to pray because a book says so is just as ridiculous.

worshipping wild monkeys & snakes is also ridiculous.

Incase some of you are still wondering what has growing long hair got to do with 'Kill 'em all' thing, here's the explanation -
It's kind of vow that people take until some desire of their's fulfills.
The classical example being that of Draupadi, the wife of the Pandavas who took a vow that she would never tie her hair till her husbands (yes, husbands !!) avenge the humilation caused to her by the enemies.
AND, coming to the Sikh's doing so till they kill all the muslims - I believed so until I read this thread. And, if I remember well it came from a Sikh himself (he is a very good of mine though). My friend was the kind who exalted Baba Gurunanak, but considered the successors 'aggressive' and 'less tolerant', and hence the ideology. According to him even if this ideology did exist, it was not started by Guru Nanak Saheb but somebody down the list of successors, courtesy the ill-treatment of the Sikhs by the then Mughal ruler.
However, the explanation provided by somebody here, about the sikh paraphernalia is far more convincing, and wish it were true :)
