Sikh families leave Orakzai after Taliban demand Jizia

Sikh families living in Orakzai Agency have left the agency after the Taliban demanded Rs 50 million as jizia (tax) from them, official sources and locals said on Tuesday.

Residents of Ferozekhel area in Lower Orakzai Agency told Daily Times on Tuesday that around 10 Sikh families left the agency after the demand by the Taliban, who said they were a minority and liable to pay the tax for living in the area in accordance with sharia.

Locals said the Taliban had notified the Sikh families about the ‘tax’ around a week ago. They said of the 15 Sikh families in Ferozekhel, 10 had shifted while the remaining were preparing to do so.

The locals said** the families were impoverished and had left the area to avoid any Taliban action.**

This is just sick…I mean what the hell, those Sikh families are poor citizens, so what if they don’t believe your all pure, self righteous wahhabi Islam, they still are Human and that LAND BELONGS TO THEM as much as it belongs to any other natives.

These Talibani Nazis need to be taught a sound lesson. It’s about time world realize that if Pakistan can’t protect the helpless non-Mulims land and property and continue making deal with Talibanis for some vague strategic gain, then wolrd will not be silent watcher.

Nazis in Germany got defeated not because they gave-up their ideology, but because whole world united against them and launched attack on Germany to eliminate each one of them PHYSICALLY. When you can’t defeat a hatefilled ideology, you eliminate those who follow and propagate that ideology.

World need to understand fast that Taliban in Pak is what Nazi ideology was in Germany during Jewish holocaust time.

sigh Where to start. The actions are deplorable. The government should get involved at once to compensate these families.

However the comparision between the Nazi's and the Taliban is intellectually dishonest. Additionally I hope you apply this same thought process to the political parties in India that spread hatred and contempt for Muslims.

It's not about Sikh and India, those people are the NATIVES of that Orakzai area and that land belongs to them as much as it belongs to anyone else.

What is shocking is that those families are poor, there is no way a small group of 15 poor families can pay a huge extorsion in the tune of Rs. 50 million!!!! Even the most rabid mullahs who sympathise and support Taliban can't justify this amount, I am sure.

And these Talibanis, should not assume that Sikhs are Coward and leaving area due to fear. If they are really brave then let them come out in open and challenge a Sikh and see how Talibani Manhood will be reduced to ashes by Sikhs. But that's not the point here.

The main problem is these Talibs know that there are worldwide millions of Muslims who have a soft spot for them, thus even if the world will unite and fight against Talibs like Nazi Germany, the Muslim population worldwide will play Victim card once again and shield them. This is why these Talibs are more dangerous than Nazi Germany, because Muslim world considers them otherwise and they know this well.

While I applaud your fervour in the matter, the issue is not that simple. The actions are deplorable, but to make an unrealistic comment that millions of people support such actions is unrealistic and you frankly can't substantiate it.

You would be hard-pressed to find people agreeing with it. Oddly enough you contradict yourself in your own post.

Its interesting to note as a conservative muslim I have no problem condemning the actions of Taliban. Yet you can't even say the same about your own religious parties. A simple line stating such would not have been too difficult.

Tax is to be collected by the state and not by individuals. Individuals can not go randomly and collect jiza.

It's not just Sikhs who are leaving their forefathers land, I was reading thru the Pakistani governments literal surrender otherwise termed "agreement" with Taliban which covers in fact areas in Swat till Hazara districts.

Now as I see, Hazara areas may have some considerable Shia population. I won't be surprised if these Ultra Pure, Nazi Talibs tomorrow declare Shia as Kufr and demand Jiziya tax or vacate the place!!

You have to understand that Islam is different than other religions. If you are a Muslim, I am really surprised you are mentioning Islam in the same breath as other nation states. As a Muslim, you are very different and infact superior than non-Muslims as only Muslims believe in oneness of Allah(swt) and the only prophet(pbuh). it is very hard for Muslims to live with non-Muslims and that's the reason Saudi Arabia makes it illegal to be non-Muslim.

Pakistan doesn't want to stressed like the list of countries you mentioned- Pakistan wants to be a true Islamic country like Saudi, Sudan or Afghanistan.

Even though the whole purpose of a centralized government is to protect its citizens from domestic and foreign threats no matter who they are, if your non muslim you have to pay extra for protection. The jizya tax is dependent on a few conditionalities before one can ask for it or pay for it.

1. A state government can collect it. Not individuals.
2. They are not to pay zakat, no serve in armed forces
3. The community is under the protection of the muslim country
4. They can practice their religion in absolute freedom and keep their customs.

To collect Jizya, these must be implemented. The Taliban will not do so. You think they will allow the Sikh community to practice freely? Nope. Since they do not fulfill their part of their agreement they can not collect jizya.

Matrubhoomi I am merely pointing out that you as an Indian on a Pakistani website more than openly insult Islam, muslims and Pakistanis. Yet do not have the fortitude to keep an open and morally rigtheous stand. You merely seek to blame Pakistan and Islam. That is all you are doing. A true product of the Indian education system.

Are you equating Taliban's demand of hefty ransom from Sikh family with constitutional Tax system of government?? Well my dear young mujahid, you are wrong even in this.

Government Tax system is based on overall INCOME bracket. let me point you a simple example.

In India a person has to pay Income tax only when his yearly income exceeds 1 hundred 20 thousand rupees. Sounds new to you, isn't it?
I am sure, Pakistan government will also have similiar kind of tax system with income brackets.

The reason, for this income bracket is to ensure that poor people should not pay tax, because their income will not exceed the bracket of 1.2 lakh per year!

Now in this case, these beloved, pious, righteous wahhabi Talibanis have asked a hefty some of 50 million from 15 families. And these families are poor!

This is purely due to discriminatory system of Talibanis and their hatefilled ideology, no justification whatsoever, if you compare even government system.
