Signs of Qiyaamat

I copied this from the book "The Idiot’s Guide to Islam”. I was shocked after reading it, because so many of these things have already taken place (or have begun to) :frowning:

The words in bold are what I copied straight from the text.

  1. The Muslim world will be vanquished and broken up into many competing nations, and the practices of Islam will be increasingly difficult for true believers.
  2. Abundant riches will be discovered under the Euphrates River in Iraq, and people will fight over them, causing much death and destruction. (oil? )
  3. Children will no longer obey their parents.
  4. Poor nations will compete with eachother to build tall buildings in their cities.
  5. It will be hard to tell men and women apart. (The recent occurence of the woman, Dr. Amina, leading prayers in New York, as well as the Egyptian woman who gave the Azaan…and gays/lesbians)
  6. Women will outnumber men. (the population of men will decrease from casualties in the war.)
  7. Religious knowledge will decrease dramatically. (One day in class the teacher was asking this other “Muslim” girl in my class about Islam. He asked which way we faced when praying. She didn’t know the answer. Keep in mind this girl is in high school, and her parents have not even taught her where she is praying, and why.)
  8. Wealth will be widespread, and corruption will be rampant.
  9. Music, female singers, and alcohol will be common. (When early Muslims heard of this, they were in complete shock. It was very hard for them to believe, and yet, look at the world today. Music, female singers, alcohol, etc. have all become prevalant.)
  10. The worst people will be chosen as leaders. (self-explanatory  )
  11. There will be family turmoil in every household.

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

and the idiot shall inherit the earth

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

and where does this list come from? is it in the Quran?

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

nope not the quran. it’s from a book called “idiot’s guide to islam”.

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

well do u know where does the "idiot's guide to islam" author gets this list from?

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

well why don't you go ask him. his name is "Yahiya Emerick". I don't have the book with me right now or else I'd look through it for specific references he used.

But I will tell you one thing, I did read some stuff in there that didn't sound accurate, so you can choose to believe what you know is right. :)

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

Well this one “Poor nations will compete with eachother to build tall buildings in their cities.” sounds very weird. What would tall buildings have to do with qayamat? :konfused:

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

^ dunno maybe we’ll find that out in the future

(yea i’ve never heard that one either :konfused: )

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

Here are some.... thank you for the post..

When women with children become displeased (on account of them bearing off-spring) and barren women remain happy (on account of having no responsibility of off-spring).

When the off-spring become a cause of grief and anger (for their parents)

a period will come upon the people wherein not a single person will be saved from indulging in interest

non-acceptance of du'aa

Conquest of Syria by two christian armies

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

oh yea and then the whole dijaal story and how Prophet Isaah (alaysalam) will come down for 40 years.

sigh

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

Damn. I visited my bro and his wife this week and she had this book there (she's a recent convert :) ) and I was reading the book. The author is an American convert (that's why she bought it) and I liekd the description of religion. He made it sound very simple: do good, go to heaven, do bad, go to hell. But one thing confused me was teh section on abortion. He offered the common Christian view, that abortion at ANY stage is a sin since life begins at conception, whereas the Islamic view that Ive known says that abortion is okay until the 120th day...... :-|

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

it's all fact... and it's all from the sunnah, if you have hadith collections at home you'll be sure to find it

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

Ask ourselves these questions:

Are the items above unique to our epoch in history?

4 is the only one that passes this test, imho.

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

There are many more signs, which the author of the book has'nt included and many of them being important. Many of the signs have'nt been described exactly as they were in the ahadeeth.

Frist sign of the Day of Judgement: The Prophethood of Muhammad (sas). The Prophet held up his two adjacent fingers and said, "me and the The Hour are like these two fingers." and also said, "If the entire life span of humanity were to be thought of as a day, i'v come in the late afternoon of that day, just before sunset."

Second Sign: The death of the Prophet (sas).

Third Sign: The opening of Jerusalem by Umar bin al Khattab.

One of the signs the author missed. A fire will errupt in Hijaaz (region emcompaasing Makkah and Medinah) and it will be so big and the light of which will spread so far, people in Shaam (syria) will be able to see the necks of their camels at night, from the light of the fire. And this has already happened, there was volcanic erruption in the region of Hijaaz and the lava poured out. The light was visible all the way in Syria. This happened a few hundred years ago.

Regarding the abundant wealth being found under Euphrates, the hadeeth states, it will be a mountain of gold. And that will be a site of a great war. Out of every hundred people that go there to collect the gold, 99 will be killed. The Prophet said, the person who gets killed and the one who survives will all go to Hell.

The building of tall buildings, that hadeeth was regarding the shepherds of Arabia, not just any poor country. Its when the shepherds of Arabia will compete with others in building tall buildings.

Another sign missed out: The land of Arabia will once again turn into a garden with rivers flowing in it.

yeaa..these are just some of the minor signs of the day of judgement. Phatima you mite wanna put up there, that these are the Minor Signs of the Final Hour. The Major ones are far more severe and dramatic.

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

I got a 3.5. That's a sign right there.

Joking aside, I seriously doubt that book. Some paragraphs, like the one I posted about above have made me doubt the authenticity of the book and the motives of the author. Just stick to the most authentic source, Quran and Hadeeth :)

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

There are hundreds of signs of Qiyamah narrated in various saheeh ahaadeeth.

Many of them are so much evident that if you really reflect upon them, you will never turn your face away from the religion of Islam.

Unlike the person Begaani shaadi maiN Abdullah Deewana, A.k.A Pinstripe Danda, who is not even a muslim and at the place where we muslims are sharing some knowledge with each other, he came in and tried to mock Islam, I will rather go and quote a hadeeth for you guys showing just a couple of signs:

On the authority of Omar bin Al-Khattab:razi:, who said:

One day while we were sitting with the messenger of Allah, there appeared before us a man whose clothes were exceedingly white and whose hair was exceedingly black; no signs of journeying were to be seen on him and none of us knew him. He walked up and sat down by the prophet. Resting his knees against his and placing the palms of his hands on his thighs,

he said:“O Muhammed:saw:, tell me about Islam”.

The messenger of Allah said: “Islam is to testify that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, to perform the prayers, to pay the zakat, to fast in Ramadhan, and to make the pilgrimage to the House if you are able to do so.

He said:“You have spoken rightly”, and we were amazed at him asking him and saying that he had spoken rightly.

He said: “Then tell me about eman.”

He:saw: said:“It is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day, and to believe in divine destiny, both the good and the evil thereof.

He said:“You have spoken rightly”.

He said: " Then tell me about ehsan."

He :saw:said: “It is to worship Allah as though you are seeing Him, and while you see Him not yet truly He sees you”.

He said: “Then tell me about the Hour”.

He:saw: said: “The one questioned about it knows no better than the questioner.”

He said: “Then tell me about its signs.”

He:saw: said: “That the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and that you will see the barefooted, naked, destitute herdsman competing in constructing lofty buildings.

Then he took himself off and I stayed for a time. Then he said: “O Omar, do you know who the questioner was?” I said: “Allah and His messenger know best”. He said: “He was Jebreel (Gabriel), who came to you to teach you your religion.

(Narrated by Muslim)

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

Signs of the Last Hour

*The following information is a summary of a lecture given by a scholar of Riverside, Gharm-Allah El-Ghamdy, around the fall of 1991. Editor’s notes are in brackets ]. It is hard to tell whether certain of these events have already occurred, or when they will precisely occur. Allah knows best. *Though Allah only knows when the Last Hour before the Day of Resurrection will come, He has given us ‘clues’ about its approach through information in the Qur’an and the hadith of the Prophet. The signs can be separated into two categories: minor and major. This article does not cover all the signs, but most of the important ones are here. All these signs are, of course, based on hadith and/or Qur’an, mainly the former.

Minor Signs (in no particular order)

  1. “The coming of the Last Prophet, Muhammad ibn Abd-Allah (SAW).” [This has already happened, of course.]
  2. “The slave will become the master.”
  3. “Shepherds will compete in the construction of tall buildings.” [The modern ex-nomads of Saudi Arabia are an excellent example of this.]
  4. “Knowledge of Islam will be taken away while ignorance will increase. This removal of knowledge will be because old scholars will die and fewer and fewer new scholars will replace them. The leaders of the Muslims will be chosen from ignorant people, and they will rule according to their whims.” [Today, studying Islam formally is considered to be an inferior career in most of the Muslim world. The leaders of the Muslim world are more known for their political or military prowess (oppressive ability?) than Islamic knowledge.]
  5. “Drinking and fornication will increase heavily.”
  6. “The population of men will decrease, and women increase till fifty women shall be for every man.”
  7. “Thirty people will claim to be prophets, followed by Al-Dajjal (the anti-Christ roughly).”
  8. “There will be such an abundance of wealth that people will not be able to find recipients for zakat.”
  9. “Killing will increase.”
  10. “Time will be shortened so that a year will be like a month, a month like a day, a day like an hour.” [This perception of the seemingly dwindling amount of time is very apparent, especially in First World countries.]
  11. “Two great countries will fight and kill each other, both claiming the same thing.”
  12. “Earthquakes will increase in number.” [Welcome to California. :-]
  13. “A person will pass by the grave, and wish to trade places out of despair.”

Major Signs (in rough chronological order)

  1. “Al-Dajjal will come, claiming to be God holding Heaven and Hell. His purpose is to deceive, and unbelievers will follow him. He is short, red-faced, blind in the right eye, and has hair which sticks up. He will go around the world, but will be unable to enter Madinah or Makkah.” [There are numerous detailed ahadith on this man.]
  2. “Al-Mahdi will come at the time of Al-Dajjal. He will call to the true Islam, and will be a military leader. His name will be exactly like that of the Prophet: Muhammad ibn Abd-Allah, and his father’s name will match the Prophet’s father’s name also. He will be descended from Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet.”
  3. “Isa (Jesus) will come at the time of Al-Dajjal and al-Mahdi as well. He will descend at the time of Fajr prayer on a masjid in Damascus, the capital of Syria. He is of medium height, red-faced, and his hair is as if he just took a shower. He will call people back to Islam, but he will also be a military leader. The People of the Book will revert to Islam, and wealth will be super-abundant. Isa will break the cross, kill the swine, and personally slay Al-Dajjal. He will stay on Earth for a long time thereafter, and then die.”
  4. “An animal will come and call people back to Islam.” [A partial description of this animal is that it is very hairy, so much so that one will not be able to tell its front from its rear (Arabic: ‘Dab-ba’). Reference to this animal is mentioned in the Qur’an.]
  5. “Gog and Magog (two hidden tribes of people) will break free of the dam that holds them back, and ravage the earth. They will drink all the water, and kill people until Allah sends against them a worm which will wipe them out.” [This is roughly before/during the time of Isa, although it is not entirely clear.]
  6. “Three places in the world will sink and be swallowed up by the earth. One in the west, one in the east, and one in the Saudi Arabian peninsula.” [This may refer to a series of giant, epic earthquakes.]
  7. “Fire will come from the area of Aden in Yemen, and sweep northwards.” [There are claims that this already happened in some medevial event.]
  8. “The sun will rise from the west.” [This description is not meant to be a symbolic one…but it is known that it is one of the last, if not the very last one before the following.]
  9. “Smoke will appear all over the earth which will cause believers to catch something similar to a slight cold, whereas the unbelievers will be hit harder by it. Finally, a cold wind will come and kill all believers, leaving only unbelievers on the earth who will then witness the LAST HOUR. The angel Israfil will blow a trumpet, and the resurrection of all human beings will begin.” [At this point, the Day of Resurrection commences in which the skies and earth are destroyed by Allah.]

This list is far from complete; there are many other signs. A couple more of interest are: Constantinople (Istanbul) will fall before Rome to Islam (note that this means Rome will indeed fall), and the Muslim political system will go from Prophetic leadership to a just Khilafah to a ‘biting’ authority to an oppressive authority and finally back to a just Khilafah. It seems that today we are in the next to last stage of this chain; now is a good time to actively work for the reestablishment of the Muslim state and Khilafah.

Finally, the Prophet has said that when the Signs start to come, they will come FAST - like a string of beads falling one after the other. And Allah Knows Best.

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

"slavegirl will give birth to her mistress"?

The one about music and female singers is unfounded, or is that one in a hadith?

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

means daughters being disrespectful to the mothers, to such an extent that the mothers are afraid they would piss the daughters off or hurt them.
Hence the analogy, slavegirl will give birth to her mistress.

Re: Signs of Qiyaamat

:-|

So daughters are likened to slave-girls???
