lol - every year we end up going at least once to Bear MT. so for us it's a preferred spot compared to the other two you mentioned
Lol, but why. What is special about it? Reason i ask is I am trying to plan a family picnic in upcoming weeks, so thought of Bear Mountain possibly, or also the others mentioned, or even Bushkill Falls in PA....
is bear mountain scenic?
omg Deleware Water Gap is so much better than Bear Mtn. for picnics. soooooooooo much better!
i didnt go to Bear Mtn with family, i went with hundreds of interns 2 summers ago as part of an internship program. we were all divided into teams for some exercises like building a kayak and going around this small lake, ofcourse our retarted boat fell apart in the water and we all fell in the water, hanging on logs. Then we had another exercise to build a go cart and race with other teams, again in the middle of the race the cart fell apart and the only person in it fell hard on the ground. hahaha the water part specially was hilarious now that i think about it, at the time however i was angry. therefore i never intend to go to that dumb place ever again, only because i had a bad experience.

I guess it's closer to our place - about 40 minutes drive. Other places are at least an hour drive.
Bushkill Falls - is beautiful - but it's great for hiking! not so much to stay in one spot picnicking. (I've been there for hiking only - not picnic so I might not know better).
Delawar Water Gap - is great for rafting! again, not to be in one spot. (but then again I have been there rafting only - not picnic - so don't really know)
So Bear MT wins to take all BBQ stuff wid you and relax all day!
I 2nd Buskill Falls - so nice for hiking and pictures by the main falls area
If you want to go rafting go up the river from del water gap. The views are magnificent and it's about a 2-3 hour run depending on how fast you can paddle
