Re: Sick of Rishta Issues? B**** it out here!

arrrayyy baap re! i didnt know so many people had opinions about this issue -

OKAY... so heres my take:

thank you for all the hugs and chill pills heheh - as for me i absolutely believe in God - i pray for myself and i dont consider anything else will ever get me any where...

at first it would ache when some of my friends or/and cousins for hitched but now i have risen above that as well

the parents point of view welll they are there to worry, so i guess God help them -

the problems all of them listed above are genuine - the more cases you hear the more you get to know...

As for paki or non paki girls - every place has chalaak or non chalaak girls - i have had my degree from the uk and i foudn three friends who were more shareef than any one i had known ever in pakistan - but it doesnt mean all the girls abroad are shareef, or even honest to ur face....

There are people i know in the uk and states who cry as to how their bahus treat them -

I guess i am not here to FIX the problem as such cause i know there is no solution this -
But this is a placefor release because many a times you cant say stuff to your mothers, sisters etc cause you end up making them feeling bad -
you know wht they say ' its easier to tell a starnger than a friend' this is what it is ---

I hope and pray all the girls here find AMAZING husbands and in laws... and those married have a happy life! muuahhh....

But OMG these auntied get on my nerves - they should be put in a line and shot dead hahahah

Re: Sick of Rishta Issues? B**** it out here!

True That! in my visits abroad i have seen more pessimistic and narrow minded people -

*lets take racism for example, theyll go aournd saying goraay think bad of us, look down on us and as soon as some gori walks up to them says hi or wants to hang out theyll say 'DOST TO "APNAY" HEE HONAAY CHAHIYAY' ??? whos racist then?

  • secondly second generations of those who imigrated have their opinions SET on what pakistan is - i rem goign there and a british asian girl asking me you know what cd is?? and i was like 'i come from the same planet !!' They think pakistan is all dust and gadha gadis, lol at their ignorance - sheer reason being opinion making before first hand experience.

  • As i said before there are every type of people every where - there are poeple in pakistan that have much better tastes ( not only money!) than those in the kingdom or states - and more open mindedness as well - in relations, in general thinking etc...

  • somebody mentioned ascents? NO OFFENSE AND NO GENERALIZATION meant but ALOT of pakistani asian girls i have met have worse english AND urdu than most of the ppl i know in pak. i mean jeeezzz!! u live there, but somehow their english turns to a wierd slang mixed with punjabi - which is fine by me until you start claiming its more 'PROPER' than your english

Re: Sick of Rishta Issues? B**** it out here!

Jaanwar....every language in the world has it's unique slang. In English....when we see something we don't like or that turns us off we might say, "eeew" or "yuck" or "frickin gross" **or "that is sooo cheesy/fruity/gay"** or "What a loser!" **And western people can use these terms towards people of their **own culture and race.

Also, paindu can mean different things. Sometimes it can mean "jaahil" or "village ignorance". When I hear about honor killings, or insanely evil mothers-in-law, or double standard views........the word "paindu" *comes to my mind because these things reflect "jaahil" attitude to me. And also, sometimes paindoo means "eeew" "yuck"...etc. For example, you might see someone wearing unflattering fashion and think *"Haai what a paindu". Similarly, someone of Western culture might criticize the fashion sense of a fellow member of their** own **cultural background

I'm not saying that it's right to do that. What I'm trying to say is that we all might not like certain aspects of our culture....but that **doesn't mean **that **all **of us are ashamed of our culture on the whole....and want to be "western". You can have pride in your heritage/culture and still be critical. I think it's healthy to look at culture openly and objectively.....that way we can think critically about problem areas and strive for improvement.

Although, at the same time, I do understand that some desis might think **every **aspect of culture (cuisine, clothes, language, entertainment, looks) is paindu....and in that case, it's an indication of denial and insecurity.

I have a sense of pride in our unique slang...including the broad term "paindu". It's a part of our desi language and I don't plan to give it up any time soon. :) If I see an applicable situation that warrants the use of this word....I'll use it.

Re: Sick of Rishta Issues? B**** it out here!

^ ur right in every point although the sad thing is that when used in our normal daily lives we do mean 'ignorant pessimistic narrow minded fools' when we say paindu...

I know its not right but saying it means otherwise in an idealistic sense doesnt change it. I hope that more people think like u and may be we can get rid of this almost 'taboo' issue.

hmmmm

Re: Sick of Rishta Issues? B**** it out here!

Alright....look......you have used the word "butters" several times in various threads.

Now, either **"butters" **is a part of some cultural slang that I'm not aware of (perhaps British?).........or the word is not being used correctly.

Because the only "butters" **I'm familiar with is the ever-popular **dairy product, also known as "makhan". Butter can be used as a noun......or as verb. For example, "buttering up" or "kisi ko makhan lagana" would be the verb form.

My intention is not to be rude or to offend, but since you've used the word several times in your in many threads, a little clarification would help. Thanks.

Re: Sick of Rishta Issues? B**** it out here!

1) First of all, thank you for finding my posts to be impressive. I write for myself, I don't have the intention to impress anyone.

2) I found Janwar's post about the word "paindu" to be interesting and **thought-provoking **and so I was discussing the word "paindu" from my own perspective. I never said that **Jaanwar **was wrong and my intention was never to try and prove his views wrong. And I hope Jaanwar doesn't think that. I believe we're intelligent both adults that can look at a an idea from various perspectives.

3) "Let some feelings out for once?" My posts ARE **a reflection of my feelings and thoughts. What an **absurd **comment.........by the way, that was a feeling as well. And I'm not preventing** others from voicing their feelings or thoughts either.

4). Am I superhuman? That might be YOUR **interpretation of me. **HOWEVER.....I NEVER thought of myself as being super-human. I'm an erring mortal with flaws just like the rest of the human population.

Re: Sick of Rishta Issues? B**** it out here!

here..she goes again...id put u up for presidential candidate if i cud..honestly

Re: Sick of Rishta Issues? B**** it out here!

I wasn't trying to be rude....just curious about what the word "butters" meant since you use it frequently. Thanks for the clarification.

Re: Sick of Rishta Issues? B**** it out here!

Awwww i’m glad it made you laugh :stuck_out_tongue: I was basing my answer on what i’ve seen. I’m sure everyone’s not. There is good and bad everywhere

Thanks Amir but this is the second time actually :cb:
Awwww Aishwariya Rai :cb:

I guess all the people from a village are not the same. I agree with the paindoo ppl. in the West bit aswell :cb: I’m not going to name the communities but yeah I know what you mean.

Re: Sick of Rishta Issues? B**** it out here!

You always make a lot of sense RV. However, my problem is with equating 'paindoo' with 'jaahil'. I am a paindoo and I like to believe that I am not jaahil, at least not completely.

I can not, have not and will not approve of the derogatory use of the word paindoo.
