I also think assurance is important and for this my wife may have to do a video/pics of them and ask them questions about their lives and family, etc then she can put it together as a video/article exclusive for Gupshup- demonstrating contact. If they don't have a bank account then she can photocopy the main persons (mother) National Identity Card and post it to people here.

With all due respect to the sincere effort, and you and hareem volunteering for this noble cause, I am not sure if the family after going trough such tragedy, is be ready for such interviews and identification process. Best way is for us to make Hareem our trustee and hand her the finds and she makes sure that funds reach the family. If she can, she can just hand the money over to the family.
^I can do that but I like Spock's idea where people donate monthly ($2 or $3 or whatever you can afford) and it reaches to the girl and family on regular basis.
I didn't mean to make it sound like she is going as a journalist, but rather go as a person offering heart and concern. Give some money there and then as well as befriend them take pics and stuff, that sort of thing. If they are happy to allow pics she will not force them.
I like TLK's idea. We should collect money.. have a large amount together and then give it to the family. I think everyone donating a dollar or two will just end up costing more in money transfer than the amount itself. I think one person needs to collect all the money .. everyone send their share to that one person. And he/she can deliever it to the family for the little girl. One huge amount altogether ... the family can actually do something with the bigger amount together.
I am, however, not sure if this is a good idea. The family may not like to accept the money. I think it would be better if someone can contact the father to see what their views are on it.
Why don't you guys use google adsense to make some good money?That way your funds will never be dry. You can make a lot of money with the high number of active members. Although it might be not be to everyone's liking to see intrusive ads. But it is a small price to pay to send money back to your country's needy.

we do use the ads but in the intrusive fashion that would be required to generate any real funds.
besides, we have managed for this long and our membership tends to contribute when they are called upon so why force them?
wow, this became a thread on its own :D anyways, Paypal is not operational in Pakistan so we cant really have anyone there in the family set up an account where we all can conveniently contribute... It would be nice if we can find a local well known guppy from Sialkot (like Muzna stated) and can deliver the contribution, along with our goodwill from GS...
If all fails, I do have a phuppo in Sialkot whose husband is pretty well known in the city and owns a large soccer manufacturing industry there and they might be able to help me get the money across to them. The ex-MPA of Sialkot is also a close relative, and his son's on my fb I'll try asking him if he can get us in touch with the family too.
