question is: What is there for the Govt. and NS to be silent on it and let it happen?
It is so easy to charge IK with treason for disrupting the peace etc. and lock him up.
NS govt can make a move and arrest him and then what? IK become most popular leader, everyone having sympathy with him... and shall be forgetting all this what IK is doing... remember we are emotional (reaad stupid ) nation...
remember Model Town incident, even you were condemning the killing and rightly so... but no one knows what actually happened there... no one mentioned how females and male mureed were treating policemen, no one mentions that the first bullet was fired from the roof of qadri's resident, no one talking about JIT report...
IK is begging govt to give him some reason... and same time IK is being exposed... today people of Karachi might be wondering if this is what they supported.. then it is already available in form of MQM, ST and what not name..

Is Govt. worried about IK somehow becoming more popular or about cities being disrupted and people/economy suffering?
Govt. should worry about IK 'popularity' later, first thing to do is stop this madness and silliness.
How come these shutdowns affect government? They think they will make a difference 'One day shutdown' in Karachi. Don't they remember blocking roads by MWM for Shia genocide. Has that stopped?
Interesting to note that Karachi is the city which was shut down by government parties. Also remember PML(N) representatives saying 'Faisalabad ka show karne den, phir dekhen ge'.

This was said to let PTI know that Govt don't care about his calls.. and as you rightly said, how would it effect govt directly, NS would simply have more sympathy that had his govt was allowed to complete its tenure he would have change the fate of the country... and IK he is loosing it all around... he made blunders earlier and he still busy making bigger ones.
As 3rd force, IK was catalyst for the development of the country...
Few days back i spoke to my friends about the shut-down in Faisalabad and in Lahore... they simply said ( and they voted for PTI and have been instrumental in fund raising campaigns of PTI even after August blunder) he is gone nuts, he have family to feed and business to run and he have nothing else but agitation and ghunda-gardi... Shareef brothers seems to be the only choice for us...
this is what NS govt want people to say and think.... and this is what IK giving him... NS now playing his dirty politics...and as you know, country and its development is only topic for talks in politician's diary
Basically you are saying IK CAN blackmail the Govt.
And for that matter ANYONE can blackmail sitting Govt.
Don't you think this cycle of blackmailing Govt. be stopped once for all?
Altaf Hussain is doing that for 30 years...
Fazal Ur Rehman have started is as well...
and IK is on it as well
and why govt being black-mailed by these thugs...simple, our democratic system/govt are very vulnerable... all politicians looks towards Rawalpindi's mood and require their acceptance.. hence the sitting govt can't do anything but to bow down to their demands...
how to get out of it... the Tayyab Ardogan formula is only way forward... performance and economic development, if NS managed to get that in next 3 years... then this black mailing tactics shall be buried for good, else it will continue as it is

Forget please what happened in past.
Previous wrong acts cannot be used to support present wrong acts.
Previous wrong acts cannot be used to support present wrong acts.
I am not supporting previous acts, please don't get me wrong, what i meant was, IK has taken the same road... wrong it is.. and that is being done, Pakistani Democratic System needs at least two more govts to complete their tenure to get rid of kinds Shk Rasheeds, Ch. brothers and Altaf hussain kind of people and get out of this black-mailing loop.
Took three hours to reach office, amid all those f*cke*s protesting, route which takes 45 minutes usually....Karachi is highly private sector, makes no sense in shutting down this city. The worst affected people are small businessman and daily wage earners, who have basically no stake in government or who is ruling. If IK is serious in getting rid of NS, a much better way would be to pursue corruption cases, investigate all government projects and hirings in public sector, instead of causing public nuisance.
Its quite amusing to watch folks so harshly criticizing PTI's one day peaceful shutdown call, while these same folks have been enduring MQM's almost weekly shutterdown strikes at gunpoint. Hypocrisy at its immature worst. The shutdown was advertised well in advance. There was plenty of time to make alternate arrangements for anything. And for those thinking this was done with the blessing of MQM, think again. PTI has more than enough street presence in Karachi to manage this without MQM support....just like they do in Lahore, which is supposedly PMLN's 'qilla'.

The criticize of PTI shutdown is welldeserved. And I dont remember anyone not criticizing MQM either. But anywaz, your post confirms the pattern of PTI following MQM's footmarks. Remember that MQM always claims that their protest is also "peaceful" just as you are claiming for PTI.
It may be a good news for those who are always interested in "volatility" but a real bad news for those hoping for "Naya" Pakistan.
^ There are no footmarks to follow. PTI has been staging a very peaceful and meaningful protest for a valid national cause for 4 months now. MQM doesnt even come close with its ethnic and localized gun-ridden politics.
The shutdowns have been peaceful from PTI's end, and judging by the amount of continuous ground support, the only people for whom it is bad news are status quo criminals.
And theres nothing ''violent" about the photos above. PTI had specifically announced locations of where they would be stopping traffic. This was in order to allow people to plan alternative routes.
PS. The picture of the man with a gun is NOT from Karachi. Im sure Ive seen this picture elsewhere as well before today.
