Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

PTI is set to what it calls “Lockdown” the economic hub of country Karachi on Friday Dec. 12th. Although most of the markets in Karachi remain shutdown either way but its still a popular call especially when MQM has favoured it as well. Karachi has always supported opposition parties and I’m sure it’ll go very successful as well.

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Arif Alvi Thursday said his party would stage sit-ins on 24 spots and bring the megapolis to a standstill.

PTI workers organized a rally from Defence to Clifton, Teen Talwar and chanted slogans in favour of PTI’s sit-ins in Karachi.

Addressing the rally, PTI leader Arif Alvi said his party would shut down the Karachi tomorrow, adding the Sindh government should not remain under any delusion.

He said it would have been better had Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) supported PTI’s protest in Karachi.

On the other hand, MQM chief Altaf Hussain had asked the PTI leadership to keep its protest demonstrations peaceful, saying that it is PTI’s constitutional right to stage sit-ins in Karachi.

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

So you support MQM also when it calls for their strikes?

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

I'm very curious to see how this turns out. Will stores, banks wagaira close?

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

Not long after MQM killed Zahra Shahid, Imran is happy to have a tacit agreement with them.

Imran will leave all his principles, for power.

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

For a change, instead of NA-MALOOM AFRAAD, MALOOM-AFRAAD are going to shut down Karachi.

:chai:

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

IK can not shut Karachi without riding on the shoulders of 'kalu mota qatil". That will be blunder he is committing. He should not involve mqm in his struggle. He should withdraw his wrong step of shutting Karachi.

When he talks about rigging in elections, MQM was the major party who not only rigged elections in Karachi but killed his key female leader.

There are reports of Jalao Gherao in karachi and at the same time people have preferred to stay in. Schools are closed as well.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) Plan C kicks into action in Karachi, aimed at forcing an inquiry into alleged rigging in the May 2013 general election.
The Sindh government has said it will not allow a strike, stating earlier that government machinery would swing into action if anyone attempts to shut the city down by force.
PTI’s earlier shutdown in Faisalabad saw one PTI activist killed during violent clashes with Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) supporters and police.

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

what ever PTI is doing today in Karachi is ultimately going to help MQM - either Karachittes wont vote in next election or they will vote for MQM !!

If I had to vote for the Gundha Gardii and Badmashii shown by PTI crooks today , I would have voted for MQM in last election .
Had strong verbal argument with PTI activists this morning on my way to work .. They have blocked the roads and burning tyres ... And not letting any one cross !

Is this what you call a peaceful agitation ..

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

peaceful. my foot :aj:

They even closed those roads which were not previously announced and they claim that they are not forcing their agitation on others :nook:

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

@muqawwee123 @mahool more live reports plz!!

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

@mahool is not in Karachi.

I reached office before time. Left home at 7:30. faced a diversion at Numaish Chorangi. Took Corridor 3 to reach office at Chundrigar Road by 8:00. The traffic was low.

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

@muqawwee123 according to twitter they are closing roads and forcing people to close businesses. Other people are saying that everything is normal. What do you see?

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

not normal. You can see burning tyres pictures. Almost 80% of our staff is absent. I shouldn’t have come, but I’ve few assignments to complete and that too from outside Pakistan. I just can’t tell them that a mad politician has blocked roads, so bear with us. :bummer:

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

That is an unfortunate reality & why Pakistan will never get anywhere.

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

So a common man hay no right in the country, anyone who can gather few goons and fool can make his life hell...

What if i live in Karachi and i do not support IK's call, should i be forced indoors? should i be forced to not to proceed with my business and usual things because some leader thinks... why i have to pay the price?

this is democracy, it is his right to give a call for protest but isn't it my choice to say yes or no to it??? why someone is forcing me to say yes!!! so much for the change...

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

Why IK is not being arrested?

Is this one 'badmaash' courtesy to other?

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

not to mention about the Pakistani media who is trying its best to portray Pakistan as a failed state and not suitable for investment and businesses..

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

So that his Jahil followers can force more shutdowns...

IK have following and now he can blackmail any one just like Altaf Hussain

Re: Shutdown series: Stage 2 - Karachi

Agree.

question is: What is there for the Govt. and NS to be silent on it and let it happen?

It is so easy to charge IK with treason for disrupting the peace etc. and lock him up.
