Showing skin while wearing a sari

However, I’ve grown up watching my nani and dadi wearing very pretty cotton saris on daily basis. Their blouses were just the right size - not too short that they would give competition to Bipasha Basu and not too loose and big that it can be also worn as a kurti with a pair of jeans. I’ve always heard women in my family saying that blouses are just not the same if they are not properly stitched and don’t have a nice fitting. Although I don’t wear sarees, I do know that a blouse should be sewn as your second skin or it will look quite tacky. Length really does not matter because it’s a personal preference.

Also, the biggest element in wearing ANY outfit is the way one carries them. If the sole purpose of a woman is to flaunt her physcial assets and get other’s attention, she would manage to do so even under a burqa - she doesn’t need a low back or sleeveless blouse for it.

Vidya Balan wore this red sari when she was received an award for Parineeta in one of those award shows. Man, did I fall in love with that sari! It had a very low back and full-sleeves blouse and the sari had a very long pallu and she carried it with oodles of grace and elegence. I can’t find pictures of it though.

wishkumar, I just had to agree with so many things you said. My nani and dadi wore the same kind of blouses that perhaps yours did. They always of the right size and the right fit. The way they carried the outfit everyday was amazing with children pulling them in every direction. My MIL did the same.

That said, I really don’t like wearing revealing clothes at all and that inclues sleeveless, midrif baring, transparent, backless outfits. I do own some bra like blouses but those are strictly for hubby’s eyes only so I have never worn them in public.

Is this the Vidya Balan saree you are talking about? I love the way she is wearing this one.
