I think its the time to introduce some sort of Basic sex education in our curriculum for high schools.

I am talking in particular reference to Pakistan

Whats your opinion.

I think if we know that we can't control the frustration of our kids then the answer should be YES.

I think the media is so exposive and bewitching now a days, that It frightens me.

I think we should guide our new generation in accordance with Islamic guidelines before they get weak enough to be subdued by expolisive westren sex oriented culture .

Like they have been propagating on msnbc and cnn. For example Hijab is anti human and assault on personal freedom in the garb of religion.

Yea lets cause a massive wave of heart attacks for mullahs

I agree with you because kids should know right/wrong, fact/myth in an educational setting rather than from some trashy American film.

why don't we have the Mullahs teach it.. at least they'd have to get off of their fat behinds and contribute to the society.

Actually it is a part of madrassa education. Those who went to madrassas know.

I went to a madressa , I do’nt have any, actually my parents later on realized a it nad sent me and my brother to a private religious tutor for this purpose.

But I think they need more counciling in addition to traditional teaching we have.

The prevalent kind of education most Mullahs give there is reprehensible by law if caught.

btw...lets define "Sex Education" first.

anyone?

Most definitely. There should be special schools teaching only sex, and nothing else. What else is there to learn anyway?

Its a broad topic but limits can be set at least!

If we agree on it, we can leave it to a panel of scholars or intellectuals to work on it.

Sex education is like any education(although I am not autority or scholar on it) which is meagre in our culture but its absence < i Think is now playing havoc.

You know what I am talking about

If not I can elaborate explicitly

Sex education for high schools? aghhh
The next thing i expect from you guys is a demand to make it a lab course. If you guys let it happen now there wont be no end to it....i say NO to sex education....Astaghfirullah

On a second thought i think we should try it on post graduate levels but just the theory no lab courses....and if it goes well then lab courses can be tried to--with a pre-req ofcourse<married n ages 50+>

What else is there to learn anyway?

The art of getting at that specific point!

The art of getting at that specific point!<<<

Pathwari GeraeeN, that’s precisely the point why I would like to see sex education be given the highest priority in our education system.

Naik bibi.. when you say lab courses, do you mean conducting experiments on mice? Yuck! Roman may find it exciting, but I don’t think that a mouse is any substitution for a warm blooded animal. I believe that we need to invite guest lecturers from Europe to Pakistani schools to educate our public about various other sub-techniques (cosmos and other combinations of various other methods) that are not popular in our culture. People need to be educated for them to be able to raise their understanding among other things. It can be an uplifting experience.

dear Naik larki
what do you think of a vulnerable age for a boy or a girl?
its the peroid starting from high school transiting in to college education.
This is the time most of the parents R worried about thier kids! Why???

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/smile.gif

Its not the core issue, but one of the core issue.

The responsibility should be on the parents to make sure their children know about the complexities! If they can't find time to teach their children, then they better make sure some elder of the family does.

In desi culture, girls are given some education (usually by mothers) but boys are left alone to explore it on their own. NYA Bhai is a prime example!

Such a course would make sense if the students were the ones imparting sex education to the teachers, because I dont know what exactly is there about sex ed. that high school kids in Pakistan dont know.

Perhaps the teachers could learn a thing or two.

.

Sex education for high school students? Isn't that kind of late? It is like teaching a middle aged carpenter how to cut the wood.

Other than that I think NYAhmadi hit the spot in his post...and that is the most important thing...some times even the most learned ones don't know where the spot is, leave aside hitting it precisely(no I am not talking about you paThwari).
