Should the Hudood Ordinance Be

Should the Hudood Ordinance Be

  1. Kept as it is

  2. Repealed

  3. Amended

Hudood Ordinance was introduced during Zia Ul Haq’s Government (read here)

(poll requested by Zakk)

It should have been entombed alongwith the carcass of its creator.

I don't know why it's taken this long to repeal it.

and I think people against Islamic laws (although Hudood ordinance needs review) need to be educated first! Parhay likhay anparh..

The intent behind the Hudood Ordnance is noble indeed (ensuring compliance on sexual crime with the laws our Creator ordered us to follow).

However, it should be amended to account for the fact that in its current form, it is too open to abuse. In particular, rape victims need stronger differentiation from willing sexual partners. Stronger protection is also needed to ensure that women don't get framed any more by getting 4 men lying to a court that they saw her in engaging in unlawful sexual congress.

Pakistani society is such that as long as the Hudood ordnance exists, it will always be used by powerful men to inflict humiliation on women and get away with violent crimes like rapes.

Therefore it must be repealed forthwith. No question.

Ridiculous..The standard of testimony as laid down in section 8 of the Hudood Ordinance requires either a confession or four muslim male witnesses.

8. Proof of zina or zina-bil-jabr liable to hadd.
Proof of zina-bil-jabr liable to hadd shall be in one of the following forms, namely:-
(a) the accused makes before a Court of competent jurisdiction a confession of the commission of the offence; or
(b) at least four Muslim adult male witnesses, about whom the Court is satisfied, having regard to the requirements of tazkiyah al-shuhood, that they are truthful persons and abstain from major sins (kabair), give evidence as eye-widnesses of the act of penetration necessary to the offence:*

just cuz a bunch of idiots on a powertrip declare something 'Islamic law' doesn't make it so. Pakistan wasn't made to practice obscure outdated and controversial laws based on equally obscure, outdated and controversial sources.

We have a country to run.. not some madrassah.. Women are an equal part in our progress and our workforce.. we cannot have laws that undermine their participation or treat them as second class citizens.

The Council of Islamic Ideology must be disbanded and its members must be made to work to earn a living. That whole concept is such a fraud. What a joke.

You are anti-Pakistan!

Thank you. Coming from you, I feel honoured :hehe:

inorder for a law to be compliant with the will of allah it must be fair. here women are being sent to jail on false charges..hence either fix the loop holes or get rid of it.

Maudoodi’s son terms Hudood laws un-Islamic

Let’s declare Maudoodi Junior as Kufr shall we?

i dont see much wrong in this ordinance. it is how allah's law is supposed to work. however, there is an escape hatch that allows people to take 4 oaths denying the accusation and fifth one saying may allah's curse be on me if i m lying and you are set free. that should be included.
and PA, you are such quranist, how can you deny that we punish zina when Allah himself says that punish the zani in quran? quran says 100 lashes, and hadith adds stoning for married people. that is allah's law, and if people say they are outdated and reject that, then it is an act of kufr.

Lo jee aa giyay molvi sahib :hehe:

they will never work effectively as they stand currently.

I'm sometimes amused.. the Prophet wouldn't have known that one day, people claiming to be his 'followers' would taunt those who followed the very Book he was chosen to reveal.

ok so dish out the lashes then, but are the witnesses also of the same caliber as the Qur'an requires? It's easy to pick what you want from where u want to oppress one gender.
