muziq.net has it's own player which uses real I have done all dose things which u told me except for da job part :D. and I'm not the only one hwho has this problem. If we want ppl to lsiten to paki msuic we need a better format than real which i find the crapiest format. I would rather use windows media in a very low quallity.
*Even though it's a bit off-topic, I want to wish Cheetah all the luck as I haven't seen him recently on MSN Messenger. That's the problem with us Pakistani people; we can never sincerely praise anyone for their efforts. We just have to be critical all the time. I am sure Cheetah will kick some rear end once his site goes online again. People, That Is All.*

well than order for me and i will pay u next janam :)
:k: you tell that mama’s lil’ gal. I bet mama hasn’t given her permission to use her credit card online.
I myself have been ordering Pakistani cds online since last year and have yet to see a fraudulent charge on my billing statement.
I'd rather not take the chance with my credit card, you never know who can hack into your account. I never buy anything offline.
Yeah, I'm a paranoid grandma.
Okay, well gulabjamun - PM me with the website you use, and i'll give it a try if the prices are reasonable. There is always someone going and coming in our family, so for me its not a big deal to order cd's.
But here's another thought...when we buy cd's - whether off the internet or online, its not the artist who gets the profit, anyway. So whether you download or order the cd's - either way the musician doesn't benefit - at least in Pakistan...so how does that effect the topic of this discussion?

ok i'll PM you site's URL.
about 2nd point, from where these guys get their cds to sell online? the guy i deal with gets his cds from his friend's shop. so in a way he is giving him business as well as making money himself. about benefits to artists, what else can you do to help them other than buying their music the right way.
prices are reasonable $6.99 USD / CD <== lowest price online]. :)
MP3 sites should not be allowed. If they are, they should be subscription based.
Real audio streaming should be done in a low quality format, which would enable folks to listen to the music, and then decide on whether they want to buy it or not.
Buying cds online is an option, but then again, like the above subscription based option, this doesnt necessarily mean that the artist will be getting any royalty from the sales of cds or from the subscription fees.
Original cds are available in only a handful of stores in Pakistan, or online. Else, most of them are simple copies made on cheap CD-Rs.
Fact of the matter is, there is no fool proof way of avoiding it. Even without mp3s or the internet, people can easily pirate music. Buy 1 cd or cassette, make 50 copies for a fraction of the cost, and distribute it among your friends, without anyone knowing about it. More than anything else, public awareness is required in order to change attitudes.

Sorry PCG but that sounds very lame and specially coming from someone like you.
How can you say these guys don't make money from selling their albums, its just a lame excuse to get away with the fact that you are stealing their music.
:k:
so now that artists don’t make money by selling thier cds the legal way (off the internet) I guess they should shutdown their “online shops” on their official sites.

Can you explain what Salman Ahmed has to do with this discussion?
Anywayz, setting aside this childish post, let me come back to the issue of artists not making money of selling their album, as suggested by someone. There is a royalty that the record company and the distributors have to pay the artist for every album sold. The artists are not the only ones involved here, there are many other people whose livelyhoods are destroyed due to piracy, infact, bigger artists can survive such losses, its the emerging artists and people working at the bottom layers who get wiped out.
Alot of online sites now let you buy Pakistani music, such as cdnow etc, however the variety is limited. So the excuse that its not available for download is not applicable anymore, and soon will be gone forever.
Did you guys know that there is not a single major mp3 site that lets you download bollywood music, despite bollywood music having a much bigger market than Pakistnai music?
