Would people support Pakistan executing all convicted terrorists starting with those found guilty of spying for foreign nations? Would this deter any future aspiring terrorists from becoming?
If not, what do you propose Pakistan do instead?

Re: Should Pakistan start executing all convicted spies?
Only those spies who have a proven hand in terrorist atrocities deserve the capital punishment imo, and this rule should apply internationally. Not all spies deserve to die ESP. if their activities do not result in any direct harm to the citizens or soldiers of that country, by which I mean loss of lives
Re: Should Pakistan start executing all convicted spies?
Im not a fan of the death penalty period. Even the slightest chance of killing an innocent person should be reason enough to abolish such punishments.

But if the person is not innocent, and all avenues of sorting the evidence have been exhausted?

Do you seriously think before you post !!! Have you any idea about the laws that are in place. Even if Pakistan changes its laws do you think it is feasible. Most of the spies in Pakistan right now are from US. Do you think Pakistan would be able to execute any of those. It is good to talk but difficult to implement.

And you know this, how? Can we get a manifest listing nationalities of all the spies?
Executing convicted spies may be far more feasible than providing them foolproof security as the likes of you would like to have in place. Do you have any idea how expensive that would be? It's not just their security, you also have to consider other factors that go into keeping a convicted terrorist alive. Where will that money come from?

Life in prison without the possibility of parole seems a far more grueling a punishment then a quick death...
Re: Should Pakistan start executing all convicted spies?
The laws are never absolute where everything must/should/can be done in a defined order. Have you ever wondered why someone might face a death sentence vs. someone who might get a life in prison for a similar crime? Often decisions are not based on law as its written, but rather subjective interpretation of a law by a judge...and it also depends on how good your lawyer is.

True.
Re: Should Pakistan start executing all convicted spies?
NO.
Spies: kid on the iphone in india would have more data on pak, then a spy in pakistan in 1970s or 80, I never understood anger against spies.
Terrorist: they way our brain works, if we execute them, their people would retaliate, their country would have no choice but to do some thing about it.
As non human concept of prison is, it still stop them from doing the damage + their related people stays calm.

That's fair. How do we keep the repeat of this sad incident in the future though? Is there a feasible solution that may prevent this again?
Re: Should Pakistan start executing all convicted spies?
I don't know.
Perhaps taking pride in our work. I know It would not have happened under my watch.
Re: Should Pakistan start executing all convicted spies?
There is no system of justice in Pakistan so Pakistan should return all prisoners to India. Indians were able to execute Pakistani terrorist kasab while Pakistan denied justice to indian terrorist sarbjeet even after convicting him. Prisoners never get proper punnishment in Pakistan.
Re: Should Pakistan start executing all convicted spies?
Surjeet, a self-confessed indian spy, disagrees with you ... yeh tau yahan murghon aur tikkon ki aise baat kar raha hai jaisa koi jail na hui dhaaba ho!!
[QUOTE]
As per him indian prisoners in Pakistani jails are treated much better than Pakistani prisoners in indian jails (post #76 bottom video @ 02:51) and he was very well looked after in jail, food was excellent, meat was served 5 times a week!!! Although he was tortured by Pakistan army after being arrested in 1982 (for 4 years from 1982-85), Surjeet** was never tortured in jail.**

Re: Should Pakistan start executing all convicted spies?
I do not deny that there are corrupt people within the prison services of both countries but to generalise like that and say that the whole system is a mess is not right imo..

If one is spying for another nation that is engaged in open hostilities wtih Pakistan, there is no option but to execute. They are defacto combatants waging war on Pakistani soil.
Otherwise, the consequence of the spying is not as severe, and so we can be a bit more forgiving.
Re: Should Pakistan start executing all convicted spies?
What should we do to all the Jewish agents then? :halo:
Re: Should Pakistan start executing all convicted spies?

Sarbjit Singh was a spy and his subversive activities led to the death of 14 Pakistani citizens. He was convicted of these crimes in 1992 and given the death sentence. I dunno why the hell he was on death-row for 20+ years. He should have been executed.
I guess that answers your question in first post.

Absolutely- especially terrorist scums that kill innocent.

You seriously need to think before you post next.
Let me take your analogy further...
Executing convicted *criminals * may be far more feasible than providing them foolproof security as the likes of you would like to have in place. Do you have any idea how expensive that would be? It's not just their security, you also have to consider other factors that go into keeping a convicted ** criminal ** alive. Where will that money come from?
No requirement of jails. Only the firing squad is required. Lot of money can be saved that way I suppose.
That said, I think it is common sense to assume that US would have the largest number of spies in Pakistan. Please prove me otherwise. It is another matter that there would be no convictions even if they are caught. Everybody loves Raymond I suppose.
