^^ but before getting into circular arguement, I will tell you that I live here, and I have seen it from my eyes, so you can go around with your data and last I need is an expert from Pakistan :D, we are not talking about exporting terrorism and hunting down cricket teams :)
Re: Should Nawaz Sharif attend Narendra Modi's inauguration as India's Prime Minister
Judge his policy after another two months, when he calls Nawaz to visit exclusively, right now, Pakistan is clubbed with Bhutan in the swearing in ceremony.
Our attitude is just new, post 90s, after our economic success, before that it was delusion, now it is confidence on our future, which we know, and world can see, is brighter than anyother country in our sub-continent. :)
It is still a delusion, but now coupled with more hilarity and pomposity. :)
Grand ambitions need pragmatism and flexibility and civilised execution for realisation. If India is as confident and ambitions as Indians like to boast about, then one they'll have to get off their high horses and collaborate with other nations. But that's also a delusion that very much explains the reality why the world hasn't witnessed another fairytale success and manifestation of civilisation that is European Union. As history proudly narrates the tales in which jingoism always deceived Germany. :)
You are more than entitled to keep on alluding that Modi's chest thumping bravado is still intact and waiting to explode, and it's something Pakistanis must look out for (lol). For now, a strong diplomatic symbolic gesture has been made, and that's the end of it. Nothing more and nothing less. You can of course carry on nit picking and downplaying it as much as you like, it's irrelevant, but very much expected. :)

Great. I like that. We should have a competition to see who can here come up with finest anecdotal frippery to prove the 'manliness' of their country. :D
As with your second sentence, I'll let you have you have your moment as an Indian troll :)

Kaur Ji, I am least interested in knowing you live here or there or wherever or what you have seen "from your eyes". May I request your attention back towards the subject of the thread: "Should Sharif accept Modi's invitation?" Whatever your think of your so-called economic or military power is not under discussion in this thread. I agreed with your point that it would be a ceremonial meeting. You chose to ignore my view on why Sharif would be going there.
Enough has been said that the meeting would be ceremonial, but if you want to trivialize the meeting further, then it's your's choice. In diplomacy, opportunities are created if they do not exist. Have you forgotten Musharraf's handshake with Vajpayee in 2002?
Re: Should Nawaz Sharif attend Narendra Modi’s inauguration as India’s Prime Minister
Indian arrogance and hubris is nauseating.
You gotta give credit to them for achieving great expertise in copying Hollycrap and false-flag terrorist attacks from the West in order to bully the neighbours. :k:
Pakistanis are just too nice to accommodate their distasteful posts on these forums on an ongoing basis.
Re: Should Nawaz Sharif attend Narendra Modi's inauguration as India's Prime Minister
They inivited everyone, even Sri Lankan president, against whom opposition in India is more violent. So he is trying to begin with everyone. Secondly the most important thing is Indian attitude, we don't consider any regional state, within sub-continent as equal partner (me being equally criminal in this offence) so there are hardly any chances of mutual collabration with any country here :)
its not about "equal partnerships" but about opportunities. india has a lot of lost opportunities with its neighbors in improving lives of its own citizens. what is criminal is wasting these opportunities. as much as i detest modi, he did the right thing by not singling out Pakistan. and Nawaz coming with two of his important men to spend a day with the hope of getting to know Modi's outlook, its not just ceremonial anymore, unless snubbed. which may very well happen.. but we'll see.
Re: Should Nawaz Sharif attend Narendra Modi's inauguration as India's Prime Minister
the ball is in india's court to not screw this up now.
the ball is in Pakistan's military establishment court as well not to screw it up...like they did in near past by doing kargil and then Mumbai incidence
Re: Should Nawaz Sharif attend Narendra Modi's inauguration as India's Prime Minister
My take is simple...all i can say Modi has started well...he is a shrewd politician and he will do just fine *as long as he remembers that 70% of cast votes actually went against him!!! ....
*
yes Modi's coalition has a huge seat advantage on congress (330 vs 60) but lets not forget that his opposition coalition led by Congress got 20% of cast votes where modi received 30%. Suddenly the difference does not look that astronomical....right? flawed British parliamentary system (now wait until madam jolie delivers a long lecture on superiority and benefits of British parliamentary system)
in desi politics sometimes it is so important to keep the "half glass empty" analogy in perspective...so far Modi remembers this, he will be fine otherwise he be trashed in history as well.
I wish i would have said no. But given the circustances we are in...NS should go and try improving relations with India. And try bridging the gap. We should be ready to work with improving ties with neighbor...as long as Modi guarantees to start talking on Kashmir..i wouldn't take him serious as a leader.
Re: Should Nawaz Sharif attend Narendra Modi's inauguration as India's Prime Minister
It's just a ceremony. Nothing good to come out of it, other than few people at both sides feeling good.
There will be no difference at all in the future. The Indians blame Pakistan for all its troubles, internal and external.
They have no control even on the various separatist movements within their own nation.
Just look at NS. He decides to take both his advisers from the foreign office, really, 2 different people? Why can't 1 be in charge?
This is nothing but a waste of Pakistani taxpayer's money. Indian govt is never going to compromise on the main issues, so its useless
no matter how many dialogues you have for whatever # of years. The Pakistani military knows this and they know there won't
be anything fruitful, I'm sure they were aware that nothing but a pr campaign is this. After all, new PM of India wants to look nice to the world.
Everyone seems to have forgotten his Pakistan-bashing all of a sudden. Ab wo apni aukat pe ajaiga.
These days things on a world stage SEEM to look like in India's favor. The world actually knows the reality behind "incredible India".
It's nothing but a fallacy. Like a good cover on a terrible book. Just by having few call centres it doesn't lift the country into a G8.
There is more poverty in India than in other countries in the neighbourhood. Look at Phillipines, they're already snatching away the call centres
from India now. The competition has started at sheer pace between all these countries for the cheapest labors.
Of course NS has his own interests (his own business - sugar mills, etc) with India. Thank Goodness we have military to bring him down to earth in case he tries to sell the country out. These corrupt politicians will always be scared of the military, the true brave and valiant sons of the soil.
If they were not corrupt or acted on best national interests, they would actually find the military on their side rather than against them.
Here goes another round of absolutely nothing but pictures of handshakes at taxpayer expenses.
Re: Should Nawaz Sharif attend Narendra Modi's inauguration as India's Prime Minister
he is taking his entire family like he did on other trips to China and Turkey. He should have instead included opposition leader and Imran Khan in the troupe.

it's just a taxpayer funded family trip for the PM........
Re: Should Nawaz Sharif attend Narendra Modi's inauguration as India's Prime Minister
A Sharif family outing?
When Zardari goes to China or the UK, he is accompanied by his children. When Sharif goes to China, UK or India in this case, he has half of his family traveling with him. Then Khuwaja Saad Rafique says that "Nawaz Sharif is a statesman." Is this how a statesman acts?
But anyway, qaom ke aesey leaders bama ehl-o-ayiaal bohat bohat mubarak hoN.
