I seriously mean this. Should the government ban the Lahore made trash until:
a) They improve their storylines
b) They work with actual bound scripts and stop writing their movies ‘on the go’
c) Kick out the red light trash and start working with real actors
I write this with much pain. After sampling a sizable chunk of productions from the 60s, 70s and the 80s, the quality and level of film making in the last 20 years really piss*s me off. They show the worst of Pakistan in the worst possible way – gujjars, mujras, bloodbaths and axes and what not. On horrible prints with really moronic acting. Even the better films carry the hangover of this trash. Reform is the need of the hour and Pakistani film makers need to be woken up from their slumber.
If they show improvement, the government needs to:
a) Lift censor restrictions
b) Provide some technical infrastructure
c) Take the taxes off movie houses
If the government were that smart or concerned, halaat yahaan tak na pohonchtay. When the country is always in (internally and externally created) crisis, which government is going to worry about the lighter side of existence ? The rest is taken care of by the pathetic level of education in the country in general and the "industry people" in particular. Until the number of educated people in the industry crosses the critical mass level, things won't change. For that there needs to be some level of peace and prosperity in the country.
So what your saying is that khuda ke liye should be banned? And shoaib mansoors upcomming flick "bol" should be banned?
Shoaib mansoor is the only good director in pakistan and his movies are lahore based...

Shoaib Mansoor doesn't use the Lahore movie infrastructure to make his films. He prefers to use TV actors or people from the fashion industry (Rasheed Naz, Iman Ali, Shaan was a last ditch replacement for Junaid Jamshed) and works with bound scripts with a story to tell. As per the info I have, the cameras on which KKL was shot were rented from the Karachi ad-film circuit, and the movie was processed, mixed and edited abroad.
Well entertainment folks are already shifting to Karachi aren't they? Productions in Lahore have gone down to an all-time low.
Everyone talks about 'banning' things and restricting stuff. Well you're certainly forgetting the fact that Pakistan is meant to be a democracy. Having said that, the censoring process needs to be changed - the amount of the vulgar trash they allow to be shown in cinemas suggests that there is inner corruption (like most authority-holding places in Pakistan).
some people(we all know those two three desperados) deliberately bring up ethnicities and castes in their discussions just to stir up some fight. I highly doubt they're pakistanis..probably some indians up to their chankia schemes lol ....go for a check up mate before your obssession with punjab pakhtun and pakistan drives you bonkers.
^^ Please READ what I originally said before forming opinions.
I think most people with associations to Lahore are getting offended without understanding I used the term "Lahore made" to avoid using the more-accepted but tasteless word "Lollywood" for the movies coming out of there.
Also, it's very, very unpatriotic to support bad cinema that showcases your country in the worst possible light and is really an embarrasment to be associated with.
Bring the film industry back to Karachi. When the film industry was in Karachi those were the golden age of Pakistani movies but after being shifted to Lahore everything got messed up.
I think he meant the current lollywood set up. Not lahore as a city.
Although to be quite honest, making real modern cinema production houses in a place like KHI isn't a bad idea. It's a more metropolitan and diverse city. I think you'd see that reflected in movies.
Lollywood has been reduced to dancing in dhotis...and last I checked, a huge chunk of Pakistanis dont even wear those...so how do you expect people to relate to the movies when they're really geared for small punjabi villages?
I say take the movie industry to Gwadar, for all I care. A movie industry in Lahore is akin to having American cinema coming from Milwaukee, the dairy capital. It doesn't add up. Even Islamabad or Hyderabad are better suited, for that matter.

Excuse me, have you ever been to Lahore? It's without a doubt Pakistan's cultural and historical capital. Just because some loonies based in Lahore are making trash doesn't mean Lahore is not worthy to host talent and influence...most of the talent originates there. So quit the silly Milwaukee phrase you keep using b/c it doesn't make sense.
