Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

Its real pretty. I would have made the blue one as a shalwar too. The yellow would look better as a kameez. Make it so and it'll look great. Congratulations!:)

Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

it's pretty and i agree with YP, yellow is the whole mayon/mehndi color, but lately everyone's been dressing a bit diff from that whole traditional look. so whatever suits your taste :)

Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

Cute. Go for it if you personally like it :)

Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

it has blue kameez...but its mayoon so it will be okay...really pretty :)

I agree with how brides are now wearing other colors for their mehndis.
In fact, these days if you want to do something different for your mehndi, yellow would be the color! lol!

right :p

and take some pics so we know how nice it looks on u ;)

^ right!:p

Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

its really nice, go for it.

Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

I think it is really nice for a mayoun. With the right accessories e.g. chooriyaan, paranda etc, it will enhance the outfit further!

Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

Very pretty, has a very sindhi feel to it! It'd look great on mayoon.

Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

i loveee it !!!! its beautiful i would really wear it ! where did u get it?

Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

I think it is beautiful. Like everyone said, go with yellow kamiz and blue shalwar. Make the paincha with the border of the blue fabric.

Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

its really nice...!!
u can also maybe wear this on ur mehndi instead of mayoun which is usually all yellow...:)

Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

I already replied to your question but a thought just popped in my head. Mayoon is a larkay walay ka tradition. The larkay walay bring you the mayoon ka jora. Or as they say, "mayoon bethaanay aa rahay hain". You're not supposed to get your own mayoon ka jora.

In older times, you would wear the same jora as the larkay walay brought for you for the mayoon's rasam to the menhdi --- there was no separate dress for the mehndi. However, these days the girl changes into a new dress for the mehndi. So you can wear this for your mehndi or get a different one if you'd like but the mayoon -- the dress, bangles, flowers, etc come from the larkay walay. You don't arrange it.

Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

^^ YP, I don't know if everyone has this tradition or not. When my sister was getting married, her inlaws weren't even in the town at the time of maiyon. They came in the morning of mehndi. Honestly, my mom didn't even know what exactly should be done on maiyon...lol.. she called my nani ama (may Allah rest her soul in peace.ameen) who told her what to do and then we had few aunties who basically helped or lets say assisted my mom...lol
So maybe every family has a different tradition. I don't know....lolz...

But yeah I agree she can make this a mehndi dress and have a simpler dress for maiyon. Again if she has something else for mehndi then go with this dress for the maiyon. Also if the dulda side didn't say anything about maiyoon then it is just better to get your own stuff ready.

Re: should i wear this on my mayoun?

^ May your grandmother's soul rest in peace... ameen.

I know for a fact that the mayoon tradition isn't a variable one. Its just the way things are done. Its like the bari comes from the larkay walay and jahaiz from the larki walay. Mayoon was initiated by the larkay walay when it first started. Of course, your case was different. The larkay walay weren't even there so the rasam wasn't fulfilled -- which of course isn't obligatory.
Some people don't even perform mayoon. Its not one of those things that absolutely has to be done but it mostly performed.
The only variation is that some people do it 7 days before the mehndi, some do it for a lesser amount of time. Other than that the basics are the same.
