yup yup u can get bookings - prolly in model town u need to know someone who is a resident. its pretty easy. coz in some cases coz of security, recently da authorities just ask for a resident guarantee sort of thing.my valima is going to b in model town ground whereas my in-laws are non-residents. dey just had to show a residents' guarantee sorta thing once. In DHA community club, u dont even hav 2 go thru dat..just pay 5k extra if u r a non-resident..dats it.

my poor fiance has been running around all of lahore looking at places for me...lol...he's gonna go see Zoqi and Zoqi who are party planners and decorators and Nadeems wedding lawn tomorrow for tent decor and setup.... he was telling me that at Nadeems we wont have to worry about timing restrictions but he also mentioned that Modeltown had really beautiful grounds so still undecided...
Im not sure wht Nadeems has quoted us is good or i can get better...he said for 200 guest the cost is 220,000 and that includes food, decor, tent, lighting, generator etc the only thing it doesnt include is the stage decor...is that a good price? plus my number of guests have increased to 300 now..i wanna find a nice ground that is spacious not to cramp up?

c) he had mismanaged by fiance's friendz valima - food shortage, late setup, no remorse or apologies for making the groom run around after caterers during the function: so a word of caution - be careful!
Also, one line of caution babe: outsourcing to a caterer doesn't mean u won't need to worry and u can leave everything to them:P they need to be kept a check on all the time to ensure dey manage things in time and smoothly. however if you have a party decorator hired then your headache is minimized.
Suggest your fiance to also try out Diwan-e-Khaas. they have good food and good customer service. lemme know if you need a specific contact, i can PM u the guy whom my fiance is dealing with for Valima. He can give his reference too.
If your budget is 1100+ then after an initial discussion once comfortable with the caterer, u can increase the budget to ur desired level and ask ur caterer to Suggest something more lavish and worth the money.

BTW, any makeup artist that you choose will have a mehndi artist on board (esp. if you choose a parlour like Madeehas, New Look and Alle’nora). If you are planning to go to a make up artist then he/she might have recommendations.

if you dont mind telling, who are you using for your tent and decor flower etc...becoz 1100 did seem pricy to me with no stage decor and my fiance is also getting annoyed becoz he doesnt know who else is good or where too look...
So im guessing your using separate tent decor people and caters since your using Diwan-e-Khaas....is that also a hall, i think i heard it on this forum before or perhaps im mistakening it was something else. Can u PM their contact number.
Zoqi does their tent setup in modeltown and their price is pretty much the same he quoted for 150 at 170,000...but im sure all of these rates from both Nadeem and Zoqi are only estimates and we can still get discounts plus im having 300 people so rates get a little better if you have more people.....

for mehendi and wedding since the functions are in DHA, we have to use the caterers n flower arrangement ppl on their panel list. I've seen their work and find it very nice and elegant (most of it would depend on the directions u give them),
for valima my fiance is getting Diwan-e-Khaas to do the tents,food,decor...again have seen alot of their functions and we r satisfied with the servicing, interest and quality of work.
late night functions are not an issue at all if done is non-residential grounds.model town is great for that. DHA mein its impossible until you wana pay a hefty fine n hassle with security! I personally find late night functions taxing for the guests so for all my functions both sides have decided to be extremely punctual so we (the couple) can leave the venues by 1:30 for mehendi, 12:00p.m. for baraat n valima. otherwise i'l b too tired to nod to the guests even! lol...
if you are doing marquee mehendi, just get the ground booked n details can be handled with the caterers when you are here in Jan.
my wedding dress! am pretty much decided on what i want but not who i want it to be done from.Karma, Rouge, HSY,Faiza Samee type designers are definitely out since they are way too expensive for my budget. Plus i don't want to pay 100k to a medium size designer to get hardly no work on it either...in short im still looking for my value deal;)
allenora did horrible mehndi for me 
i am really good at doing mehndi and have even done it for a few brides in family and friends but i dont know what made me decide getting it done from a ‘professional’ 
seemi people ruined my fet and i ran away to end up getting it done worst on hands at allenora..

i wasnt going to get it done by them, i was advised to ask them for references for people they know…im kinda surprised there isnt a thread that names good mehandi appliers in Lahore..overseas we have 3-4 excellent ones but my wedding is in pak and im surprised there arent a few popular ones that people can suggest…
does allenora herself do good makeup for maroon/gold/red bridal colors? my cousin got married and allenora assistent completely did her makeup, her baraat makeup was horrible and she was wearing red and gold…but the valima was amazing by the same person and the dress was babyblue…
im getting mine done my allenora herself so can i trust her with those colors? i thought i read on gupshup somewhere that madeeas is good for red and allenora for light colors?

fari, the good thing with designers is you won't totally be in the dark with their work because there are usually lots of reviews and pics here on gupshup.
I went to Sana Safinaz, Karma, Dr Haroon, Rehana Saigol, Ritu Kumar, all of whom didnt sell off the rack. I was supposed to see Umar Sayeed but I skipped him because I had decided on Dr. Haroon by then. The places I went had samples that they would either allow you to try on or that they would hold up to you (if you look carefully at the dr haroon thread and see the orange bridal, you'll see that she's not wearing it, someone's holding it up for her from behind).
Mahismart had a great idea, look through the list of designers she posted on the bridal pics thread and get someone in Pakistan to contact them for you otherwise they might quote a higher price.
Also check shops like The Designers...I remember seeing bridals there by designers, but I'm not sure if those are sold off the rack. I think sumorani said that those are samples as well.
also are you looking for both the shaadi and valima dress? Do you mind me asking what your budget is? Let me know what designers you prefer...I have a few recent bridal mags lying around and I can take pics of their ads/dresses in the magazines and just post them.

Thanks... i spoke to my mom about all the info you guyz have provided and she's still kinda worried about buying my bridal before actually going there. So im still in the process of kinda convincing her.
My budget for my Baraat is $4000-5000 which is roughly 375,000rupees. I fell in love with a Rouge M Bridal but i know its way out of my budget. I really like Karma, HSY, Fahad Hussayn, Umar Sayeed and even Dr. Haroon looked really good but he's not in Lahore. Bunto's bridal is also really nice but again out of my price range. I guess i really need to pick my favourites and start getting quotes.
I had my fiance buy Bride and U for me and when i asked him over the phone about certain designers in the book none of them had ads in the most recent issue, my bad luck...lol
My valima i have no idea my inlaws are buying that for me and said that i could choose it when i come to pakistan, my future mother-in-law really likes the pink karma that is very popular in the bride pics thread.
