I am fond of good eating, and Food Street was really a good source to do this. I want to deliver message to our leaders via PakLinks to open Food street as early as possible.
I voted it 100%.

I didn't even know that it was closed. Why did they close it? It was such a fantastic place to hang out.
It was closed 4/5 month ago by PML(N) leaders. I have not exact idea, why it was closed?
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
I was in Lahore last December and we went to Anarkali food street. It was open and we enjoyed some great food. Dunno it is closed now :(
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
Anarkali Food Street is just a copy. Gawalmandi is the "real thing". :)
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
I've been there too but couple of years ago.. Why would they close it?
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
ya of course it should be open again
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
def it should
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
they closed it on request of the families who live there, lets not politicize it. they were having real issues moving in/out of their homes, and other social problems.
what the should do is, either move the food street somewhere else, or provide suitable replacement to the residents of that street of gawalmandi, and re-open the food street at the same place again.
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
Hmm.. if thats the case then it was a good step to close it.

Its all rubbish that it was closed due to some families requesting it.. I myself did a social survey of Gawalmandi food street - vast majority were satisfied as it was providing vital financial advantages - even streets behind the place had no real worries... it was just a political move to eradicate all good and bad things of the past govt. The street had become a symbol of Lahore..
I agree to degaas, It is purely political move.
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
what the hell ![]()
i want to punch this chotta gunja ![]()
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
Degas: then you should approach the authorities with the results of your survey, and do send it to the editors of some newspapers, it may make a difference who knows?
and perhaps post the result here as well???
and if i'm not wrong, that area is so full of ganja supporters. most probably their (ganja's) people will be the business owners in that street, at least in majority if not all, why should they harm their own people? strange
but no matter if it was a political move or otherwise, they should open the foodstreet again, move the street somewhere else or move the residents somewhere else
I have made some research on it. I hope following article will reveal that it is a selfish decision by our so-called leaders.
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
^^ this is not "research", its a plain news article written by unknown reporter, who did not even care to mention his name, and did not approach the "authorities" to take their point of view, which he says denied to put barriers...
and i was asking Degas about his "survey" which he mentioned, and you agreed to that survey without even reading it : )
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
Humm that's good point ...
I agree with aceones...
U r right....
It is daily time report which is reknown newspaper and monitored by Govt authorities. So they cannot publish any article which is based on theories and hypothesis. As for as approach to authorities is concern, all newspaper and their sites are in observation.
And i think some logical points are very simple?
And my dear please read that column as well which is by well known columnist.
