Thanks "arafatashraf" for discussing Gawalmandi food street issue :)
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
what? its closed? why people whyyyy? why do Pakistani people wanna get rid of all the good things in Pakistan?
I'm gonna miss gawalmandi ki food street :(
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
It was a very unhygienic place to eat, from what i recall.
Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
^since when do we care that much about hygiene in Pakistan? what's so hygienic about all the thelay wala's there? It's the same thing, moreover- it was part of the culture :(
If anything, the 3 years spent in Pakistan made me so much more immune to all the stuff you can catch elsewhere.
You are right safoora,
I really miss such good place that was a good combination of food and entertainment. I am fed up with hi5 hotels.
May it re-open soon.

Re: Should Food Street Re-Open ?
hang on...
first which place of Pakistan is free from tharkees?? sadly its also bad part of our culture! so dont single out food street.
i have been a regular commuter to this area well before it became food street. food street was a good addition to lahore, every lahorite love food and they love it round the clock! food street provided yet another hotspot and another excuse to this great city.
its an egoistic move by gunja brothers to close it down. it has been traditional NS seat since he was under the lap of Zia.
people who are saying it has disturbed family lives around this area. they should think again and again and twice. gawalmandi and srounding areas are always open at night time, think about Lakshami Chowk a stone throw away from this place! its not something very new that has been induced to Lahore. they love it and love it bits. hence it had success!
the only reason it has been shut cause it hasnt got name of Chota or Wada Ganja on it! and it reminds them Chota and Wada Pervaiz nightmares!!
