Its slow death and I think the government should make this illegal just like marijuana.

At least people would smoke cigarettes in hidden just like all the other banned drugs, saving the poor non-smokers from all those lung diseases.

its not fair either for tax payers because we have to pay for their healthcare bills...if they take the risk, they must pay for the treatment.**

We should ban fat people too as they also cost the NHS a lot of money. In the UK most of the tax collected from cigerettes pays for the NHS, smoking is a disgusting habbit, but they do kind of pay for themselves healthwise.

true but i wud say seriously that smoking is a SOCIAL EVIL as well and no economics should stop it from declaring it an ILLEGAL act...how many innocent kids/babies suffer as a result of their inconsiderate and criminal parents who smoke inside the house...i'm saying this because i see the problem in my neighbour's home.

They have banned smoking in all covered public places, I don't see what more can be done. As evil as this sounds let them carry on shortening their lives, more money in the pension pot for me!
Just to quantify, the tax collected from smokers is around 10billion a year, while the NHS only spends around 5billion a year treating smoking related deseases, let them continue smoking.

if you ask smokers, they say it's hard to give up. I have seen some people using the electronic cigarette, it doesn't have tobacco, but it can satisfy the urge to smoke, they say.

Absolutely not. Whenever you ban something, you create a black market for it. Like it or not, people who want to smoke cigarettes, weed, shoot up heroin, snort cocaine, will find a way to do so. You want to make someone a devil for doing illicit things, well then pony up your money for his or her trip to prison.

I also hope people are not stupid enough to believe that the US government bans marijuana for "health" reasons. What a joke.

Heart diseases kill more people in USA each year than smoking related diseases. Fatty foods should be banned too.
