Just want to know views from Muslims on above topic.
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
Define "Celebrate".
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
No is the obvious answer, if i said to you as a muslim would you celebrate Diwali the hindu festival you would'nt celebrate it, so why would you celebrate Xmas.
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
No, because:
We are not allowed to immitate the non-Muslims in their religious habits.
Isalm is perfect and doesn't need anything adding to it, we only have two festivals and they are 'Eid ul-Fitr (Meethi Eid) and 'Eid ul-Adha (Bakra Eid).
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
You must agree with me that Messenger of Allah SAW did started fasting on the days which jews were observing fast ????
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
Muslims refer to quran and sunnah for evidence not what the Jews or the Xstians did.
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
AK47, would be helpful if some one quote a reference instead of saying no (unless that is your opinion)
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
Its not theory its a fact Muslims follow quran and sunnah for their actions. What jews did or xstians does not mean anything. For example we do not fast because jews did it a long time ago before muslims or we don't drink wine because xstians did that a long time ago. We do action based on evidence from islamic texts i.e** [2:185] Ramadan is the month during which the Quran was revealed, providing guidance for the people, clear teachings, and the statute book. Those of you who witness this month shall fast therein.**
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
why shouldnt prophet jesus' birth be a day of happiness for muslims again?
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
Its not the question who did what and how one should do it, Just two days before christmas I thought about it that If Messenger of Allah can fast due to the reason that Jews were observing fast then why can't it be with Christmas.
Sweetdreamz , actually that is what I wanted to know ???
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
bookword.....yeah i mean muslims respect and love jesus as a prophet right? now its understandable they dont agree with 25th dec being the birthdate, so they might celebrate it on a different day and even in a different way.
however, some muslims feel celebrating b-days are a no-no ...even if it is Muhammad's b-day.
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
- He was not born in December…(He was born in April).
- His birth is like a birth of any other (all 144,000 of them) prophets…nothing special about it.
- Christamas has nothing to do with Christianity, it has to do with spirit of giving.
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
This is a good article in this regard…
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
If Muslims were to observe/celebrate “Christmas”, wouldn’t you think Prophet Mohammed PBUH would have done it too?
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
There are many theories when he was born ....Some say in September or March
- His birth is like a birth of any other (all 144,000 of them) prophets...nothing special about it.
I don't think it was like other prophets, No other prophet was born without father and no one was given book before his birth, no one spoke right after his birth and also none of the prophets will be coming back to this world except him ??
You mean Pagan Festival for SUN.....
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
His status is not special, he was one of the prophets like all the rest of them. Do not cite his miracles as the source of special status. Allah sent the prophets to help the mankind, they all had different abilities/miracles.
Spirit of giving is related to the good ole St. Nick…when he threw a bag of gold for three girls through the window/chimney. It is supposed to help us understand the plight of not so fortunate and give to them. I am not quite sure when the tree stuff came into it, however, I am quite certain about when and how it became a commercial bonanza.
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
Correct :k:
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
Did anyone read the article that Asif2000 posted.... Please read if you have not .... Thanks for sharing Asif
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
^ Basit the article is flawed....Jesus/Esa was not born on December 25th.
Re: should Christmas be celebrated by Muslims
The article is good but doesn’t suggest that we celebrate Christmas.
