WTH is going on in Egypt? I was utterly shocked to read this report. Is this the outcome of the new “better” regime?

I read once that levels of sexual harassment/intimidation have increased in Palestine + Iraq as well.. If it’s not being taken seriously when will things ever improve?

yeah, the freaks would always find an excuse, a la niqab was too tight, wrong shade, she was walking alone, walking alone after 4 pm, walking with just another female at lunch time, has a cellphone, was looking around, was not looking around, carries a backpack, wears sandals, wears sneakers.
using the same logic any crime against anyone can be justified.

i get the harrassment part, but the reporter is implying as if this just a recent phenomena, as if the new ''islamist'' government is responsible for this. things were all rosy and perfect during the dictator mubarak's days.
These ''journalists'' are scum. They highlight issues, not because of their inherent importance, but only to further their bs agendas.

The article does NOT imply things were rosy before. It States there is an increase in such incidents over last 3 months. I don't have stats to agree or disagree. Are you disputing the increase that is stated? If yes maybe you can provide supporting info.

My intelligence (however low it may be) does not let me believe that such a trend could increase just in a three months period. Therefore, i am disputing the intent of the article writer.

I read just today that rape cases are at a record high in India. This trend against women is not just confined to Islamic countries.

Any statistician would tell you that seeing a spike over a 3 month period is possible and can be statistically significant. And I know you have high IQ.

now woudn't it depend on the overall time period of the statistical review? and also the subject being reviewed?

3 month is a long period for spikes
they can be considered year-over-year, compared to previous years
or rate of change if u see a trend line.
reasons can be many, more than likely drop in law enforcement efforts, powers, budgets, personnel etc
That being said, stats and methodology would have given the story more credibility

Under normal circumstances, no. However there was a change in leadership. So that may explain it.

Again, I do not know if there was a spike or not. That is why I wanted to know the basis for your hypothesis. It is possible as you say there could be an agenda here.
In any event, agenda or not, one should welcome such articles if they can help educate the janta about the situation.

The problem is that Muslims have left 30% of their faith ... In the years of physical control there has been a gradual releasing of mental control and an unleashing of desire ... Now the physical control aspect has been removed this symptom occurs ...
No one brings such things on themselves ... If a woman should go even naked across the street the men should lower their gaze and run in the opposite direction to save their eyes from seeing something that will make them develop evil thoughts.

Absolutely disgusting yo. After so called "revolution" in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia. I just feel that people in these countries have lost it.
