Shoaib Akhtar's appeal rejected.

African conspiracy to avoid facing Shoaib. Wussies

such a pathetic attempt to call it even.
Okay lets kill sledging all over if THAT is the case.

Well shall we also ban Andre Nel for his abusive language towards Shoaib malik in the one day series.
This is clearly an attempt from South Africa to avoid Shoaib in the next test like Saby said.

i saw the whole days match and i didn't see shoaib saying anything to paul adams. yes i remember shoaib shouting at yasir hameed when he didn't move fast enough to stop a 4 hit by paul adams but no there was no sledging by shoaib. i didn't see it, nor it was shown or even mentioned by the commentators.

There's no such news on cricinfo or BBC or any other credible site. Hope its not true. Can't lose shoiab now.

it was there on GEO tv yesterday. poor shoib he is denying that he used abusive language.. well its clear isnt it that the south africans are too scared to face shoib

no one is happy with the decision. everyone is blaming SA for not being professional and having ammature attitude towards these kind of soft instances.

Looks like another saffie is getting ready to get another eye popping bouncer from the Rawalpindi Express.

*Its confirmed that Shoaib is banned for next test and two oneday internationals * They also showed the incident and it seemed really minor. Andre Nel was much more vocal and abusive against Malik and Pakistan let it go. And it was the proper thing to do.

Now lets see if sledging is killed all over the world or not.

Shoaib is appealing the ban backed up by PCB.

someone might be ;)

Shoaib gets banned for saying a couple of words...going by this...Andre Nel should be banned forever for all the stuff he has said to Pakistani players...

cut the crap..
any one who saw the incident, siad that it was nothing....

if Pakistan would have appealed against Andre Neal incident, then i think he would have been banned for more than a series.....

lets see what ICC does now...

Ehsan Mani............ do soemthing..

How can you say that? Dean Jones might be on our side, but I am not sure if that'll influence anything. especially the judge who is going to hear the appeal.

Clive Lloyd has done his job after a complaint was made. Now it's up to the ICC to either kick the complaint into touch which is what it deserves or ban every fast bowler in the world. It was a nothing incident. South Africans have shown no attempt whatsoever to play this game the right way and now we must nail them to the wall.

This really is carrying things too far. Clive Lloyd probably trying to get back in teh good books of the South Africans. Clearly this decision is unacceptable as the incident was of a minor nature. Shame on SA, as they have resorted to these tactics when they have been unable to face Shoaib on the field.

Shoaib Akhtar banned for one Test and two ODIs](http://uk.cricinfo.com/link_to_database/ARCHIVE/CRICKET_NEWS/2003/OCT/361718_PAKRSA2003-04_18OCT2003.html)

Shoaib Akhtar has been suspended for one Test and two one-day internationals after being found guilty of using abusive language against Paul Adams on the first day of the first Test at Lahore. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that it intends to file an appeal.

Clive Lloyd, the match referee, had summoned Shoaib, Haroon Rashid, the Pakistan manager, Javed Miandad, and three South Africans – Graeme Smith, coach Eric Simons, and Tim Southey, the manager – for a hearing, in which Shoaib was found to have committed a Level 2 offence. The penalty for that would normally be a ban of one Test or two ODIs, but since this was his second breach over the last 12 months, the punishment was upgraded to that of a Level 3 offence. On Pakistan’s tour of Zimbabwe in November last year, Shoaib was charged with ball tampering and fined for throwing a bottle at the crowd.

Announcing the decision, Lloyd expressed his displeasure with the behaviour of both teams during the series. “This incident was unnecessary and unacceptable,” said Mr Lloyd. "I have been very disappointed in the behaviour of both teams during this series and I would urge the coaches, captains and managers to get their players together and remind them of the importance of playing in a professional manner.

“Cricket is a noble game based on honesty, integrity and fair play and if the players cannot comprehend this they should not be playing the game.”

There has already been plenty of bad blood between Pakistan and South Africa in the series so far. Andrew Hall was banned for two ODIs and two Tests after elbowing Yousuf Youhana, while Smith got a one-ODI suspension for using abusive language.

Meanwhile, the PCB has said that it will file an appeal against the ban to the ICC within the required 24 hours. “We are filing an appeal immediately to the ICC along with video footage because we strongly believe it has become an issue from a non-issue,” said Samiul Hasan, the PCB spokesman. “It [the South African complaint] came as a surprise to us, it’s disappointing.”

I am for the banning.

Cricket can be played without hurling the F word at every other batsman. Yes, you may occassionaly have a light chat with the batsman offering him some advice on how he should've played the pull shot. But to abuse a batsman (who is trying to concentrate and not saying anything to the bowler) is unnecessary.

I liked what Andre Nel did to Shoaib Malik today. After one of his attempted bouncers was left alone by SHoaib Malik, he went close to him and did a mocking of teary eyes. That's OK. But to say the F word is not.

PS. I must admit that I love it when players sledge eachother. It's really fun to see how the reaction is.

If he’s going to be banned for that then the same standard should be applied across the board since these regulations were brought in. It’s the first time I’ve seen a bowler get a ban for mumbling a swear word towards a batsmen, and I’ve seen plenty of other bowlers doing it.

BTW Andre Nel was spanked for 4 next ball and Deano Jones said looks like Andre’s the one who’s ended up crying, now someone should hand him a bottle of milk :rotfl:

Well in that case Australia will not be left with any bowler and why did Clive Lloyd turn a blind eye towards Nel during the ODI's? Sucking up, maybe.
