I am in a delimma right now! I recently booked Shirley for my wedding make up. But going over what’s written in the forum about her is scaring me a little bit. I do like the work that I’v of her…but wasn’t aware of the fact that she’s not really punctual of the time and sometime messes up the make up…as i’v read some people comment. For the valima, I have her Bhabi booked…and when I asked for the Bhabi’s portfolio..she said that Shirley’s brides and her brides are in the same portfolio…so just look at those pictures.
Does anyone have any positive experience with them? Do let me know please!!

hey i have booked shirley too for my wedding in march... and i really hope she will do a good job as i havent done any trials...
Make sure you get a trial done so that you can tell her what to adjust on the actual day. She used the wrong foundation colour on my sister on the trial. It was much darker than her actual skin tone. Plus she did some other stuff we did not like. So we knew what to tell her on the actual wedding day .... it's only $50 for the trial. Well worth it in my opinion.
Mehnaz...I was thinking of going for a trial but shirley told me that the trial is 150 bucks not 50..50 wud be so worth it... But 150 jus for a trial is a little too much ? I'll call her again today n see wat she says
you should have trials BEFORE You put your deposits down, ladies! thats the whole point of a trial!
from what i've heard, its worth getting one from her, and also, make sure the contract you signed says Shirley herself will be showing up and the time she's obligated to show up at, instead of sending her niece at the wrong time. that way, you can report her to the better business bureau if she doesn't fulfill the terms.
i went with shirley for my wedding and had a wonderful experience.
i made sure to go for a trial first, and got it in writing (well...in an email) that she would be doing the makeup herself on the wedding day. she was v punctual and had me ready on time. the makeup looked great!!
she IS very puntual .. that's what i had heard about her before my wedding .. and she did show up even before time on my wedding day. people liked my makeup but i personally didnt because it was too dark to my taste...nonetheless i made the mistake of Not going for the trial... i should have though..
anyway u must go for the trial... as far as i know if you go to her place for the trial, she will charge $50 .......$150? did u ask her to come to your place?
is she the shirley wu located in missauga or somewhere close to that,

my cousin and my bhabhi both got ready from her for both their days shaadi and walima, and they looked amazing..
two of my friends had their makeup done from shirley too and they looked great! but she arrived really REALLY late for one friend's appointment and that led to enough time for only a 1/2 hour with the photographer which really pissed off my friend.
i have seen a few brides who got their makeup done by shirley, overall they looked really nice. the only thing i noticed was that (maybe the brides asked for that, im nt sure) but they foundation she put on them was just their color (or maybe a shade darker) at least thats wat i thought.
as for the trail, i heard its 50$, i dont know where this 150$ shirley is now coming up with.
one of my friend is getting married in april and she is in the same dilemma. she isnt sure between zebi, shirley and that dimple. so i guess i can share the info from the forum now =)
she should book soon if her wedding is coming up in april... i had zebi and i thought she was fab and did a great job.
ultimately, you want to be comfortable with the person and confident in their skill so you can trust them.

I had dimple, and i was totally satisfied with her makeup. But even if u don't go for her, at least have her for your mehndi, only because its the best i've ever seen. :@:
I have her bookd for my wedding in April, one of my really close friends got ready by her and apparently she was v-v-punctual about the time and detailing.. my friend had gotten her makeup done atleast 5 hrs before the actual ceremony and it lookd absolutely flawless.. Ive personally met with her and I think that she is an amazing person! Some people have bad experiences but its funny because before this forum i had never ever heard anything negative about her.. oh well!!
so i spoke to shirley to confirm everything and to my surprise fake eyelashes and nailpolish is not included in that $300 that she is charging me… good thing i asked her these things in advance. now i wonder whatelse shud i ask her
o and also she recommends atleast two facials before the wedding and she has suggested that i shud do my eyebrows waxing etc thru her.... has anybody done that?
If you're happy with your skin adn don't think you need any facial, don't do it. I guess shes just suggesting the waxing through her to get more business from you, but unless she' offers you a serious discount (i.e., a bridal package) you should just get your waxing/threading done anywhere thats convenient for u
