I found this thread very interesting, so thought of giving my point here. Talkh the story you narrated was good, though iam not sure of its authenticity but i fully support and appreciate what you consider.
Anyways i heard a naat long back and was really shocked . I will mention few starting lines which still prick my heart....

Meri justaju Madina.......
I felt it has got horrible meaning, and is full of exaggeration...... even the word exaggeration is not correct.... i should say shirk!
