Yes it depends on which 'zone' you live. Pakistan-->Netherlands it's quite cheap. Not sure about US and N.A.
I'll have my cousin look into it and ask around @ PP.
Will post more when I have the info!
What about tax ? did you pay tax on it? I am waiting for a parcel from pakistan (sent by prototype) and dont know how long it will take ,been already more than 8-9 days .
my friends always get them within 2 weeks.. i dont know how mine got to me in 7 days :o
and ya guys.. each zone is priced differently. though going from the rates given on the site.. i dont get how a parcel of 10 kg came to be at 3000 rupees :o
i really dont know bout the taxes mehroo... mujhay tho buss milgaya tha :D im sure the webiste of pakistan post will have all the info though..
Thanks brummiebrid, I'd seen that list before. Seems like it's quite cheap to use PP! Obviously shipping to US would be more expensive (but still reasonable I say).
If I like the stuff my cousin designs for me (and I'm sure I will as I have seen her work before) then I'll make her send more parcels with ready made stuff that I can sell for her!
She's been looking into getting her business started but needs someone to 'promote' it for her. I might do that some time soon!
I know that in my community people are always looking to buy fashionable. goof quality suits for a decent price (not the tacky stuff they sell in shops here for rediculous prices!)
Shinoo I know (don´t want to name the places) But even here there are shops who sell at ridiculous prices, and the fabric is of a very low quality.... For me the embroidery is as important as the fabric the outfit is made of. Unfortunatley there is not much awareness on the fabric issue, or they just ignore it for their convenience. That´s why I design my own stuff if not purchase it from a designer and make sure the fabric is excellent!
^Yes, exactly! Good quality fabric and embroidery is so important. I’d love to design my suits by myself but unfortunately can’t travel to Pakistan all that much Well at least I know that my cousin knows all the right vendors and tailors and will not screw me quality/price wise Honestly I don’t understand how people can pay outrageous amounts of money on stuff that I KNOW is not worth it.
^I'm currently in the east (they only have one shop here and they sell crap). Born and bred in 2nd largest city though, so know plenty of ppl there ;-)
i find that desis living in europe rarely buy from the country they live in.. i know sooo many desis in denmark that say array, hum tho her saal jathay hain apnay pind, its cheaper for us to buy from pakistan .. unless clothes are sold to them with absolutely no profit. and now with the cheap cheap parcels being sent from pakistan.. its easier for them to rely o nfamily members to make clothes and send it to them...
i have a couple of friends who wanted to start something off like that... and even sell stuff for mehndi like taals and accessories thinking there is nothing available like that here in denmark... just never succeeded. same reason, we go to pakistan every yr, sometimes twice a yr, why would we pay you more when we can get it done for cheaper.
Yeah Khawa, same here. We only buy stuff from here when we have no other option/choice! Many people just bring back lots of suits from Pakistan and it lasts them a whole yr or longer.
In my community however they don't really go back home that much and buy stuff from UK mainly. They've asked me a couple of times where I get my suits from and are very interested in buying. I agree with the 'no profit' part. Obviously we'd all like to buy suits for a cheap price but it really does take a lot of effort and labour to design suits and get them stitched.
I'll look into things and if I take it up I won't be in it for the profits. I'll do it cuz I want to help my cousin setting up her business and help those who don't have many other options in buying nice suits.

shinoo, don't forget the GS community. why don't you direct your cousins here? ;)
