Quistioner, No the nikkah is not registerd with any govt office or atleast it was not the case 5 years ago. And I do not think any one can know if it was a sunni or shia nikkah just by looking at nikkah nama.

bebo but there is a seal of "Nikah Khawan" at the end of the nikah form ... now this nikah khawan is usually a registered nikhan khawan.. now he must be registered as shia or sunni nikah khawan with the goverment?
^ you are right but most of pakistani families leave it to mulvi who does the nikkah to register it....no one checks if he actually does so or not. And yes i suppose the nikkah khawwn is registerd as shia or sunni....but how would some one know if they just look at the nikkah nama? they have to u know meet with that nikkah khawn or go check the local district office if the nikah was registerd.....

^ you are right but I am saying that this is how things go about in Pakistan. No one checks just trust your neighbour hood molvi to do his job.
I dont know if they still do the written entry in big registers or if it is all computerized now.

boy is willing for sunni nikah he does not have a problem but wants to check that in gvernment records will it be documented as just a nikkah or as shia or sunni nikah because he says that will affect his children in future
what is the difference b/w a sunni and shia nikkah? if the boy is ok with a sunni molvi, just go with a sunni molvi, why make a big deal out of something that doesn't even matter.
And how would it effects kids?

No not with molvi sahab but when it comes to doing registration at the local municipality do they have computerized systen like NADRA now??
