Re: Shia - Sunni Unity , One god , One religion , One ummah!
Salam-o-Alaikum,
First of all i'd like to thank you all for such good debate and tolerance towards each other. Secondly, i would congratulate the thread opener with the best at heart and mind (Unity of Ummah).
My thoughts on this are not much different from all of you. I think we all can agree that we believe in the Qalma that There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad (saw) is His prophet.
That's the pivot point of all our balance. We all maintain that, all the other issues are that of our interpretation and sectual beliefs. Although i would consider myself Sunni; however, i do not differ with my Shia brothers on many points because it's like the Light that comes from the same source and spreads in different ways.
Unity is indeed very possible. We as an ummah should be able to discuss our issues and come to common terms with each other. As long as we don't compromise the fact that Allah is one and only worthy of worship and Muhammad (saw) is His prophet sent to us, we're already on our way to being one ummah, acting like one ummah and living like one ummah. All the other details are workable.
Sure we have our difference, but that does not mean we inflame ourselves and show absolute rage towards each other and present ourselves as a shattered mirror that still reflects the original image but it is no longer united. One of the biggest things that haunts the Muslims today is the disunity and distrust that we all have between each other. It is this very distrust that gives the evil(s) space to come in between and widen the gaps overtime. If we can diminish that antimosity, and show a united face to the rest of the world. Our problems will begin to disappear. I have no doubt in my mind that Islam can and inshaAllah will succeed in becoming a tower of hope for all humanity as it once was. But we must show a united face to the rest of the world. Every family has its inner struggles and arguments but at presentation everyone seems like one united family. Such should be the state of Muslims. The state of muslims should be like a Saff (row for praying), where we all stand shoulder to shoulder with no space left for the wicked to turn out hearts against each other. It's the muslim brotherhood.
I was listening to a sunni scholar and he said a very beautiful thing. He said, " we have to quit labeling our muslim brothers of different opinion as Kafirs because we ourselves don't know the complications that causes calling a believer of the Qalma kafir. He further said he would not hesitate a single bit praying behind a Shia brother because all brothers have different personalities but they are still brothers nonetheless." I know it maybe hard to swallow for many of us but for the sake of Islam, lets all just join hands.
Forgive if one is wrong because the way of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was to forgive others, so you can be in a position to ask for forgiveness from Allah in return. We cannot continue to be selfish and ride on the tide of pride that has separated us and spread us like the foam on the surface of ocean, which has no will of its own and is carried away from side to side. We need to become a united Ummah, so we can face the threats facing muslims together.
The ummah of Muslims is much like a body, when one part hurts, the entire body feels the pain.
May Allah (SWT) guide us all, draw us closer like a tight knit that is hard to break, and give the ummah of Muhammad (saw) the strength to rid the wicked evils that keep us separated. Ameen
i cant say that it wud suit here ... as one part of body is trying to bomb other and others keep cursing thier religious heros ... But yet i feel like sayin well said.
