I have had friends who were a bit stricter in that aspect and they start giving benefit of doubt to Yazid which is the first step. The second is to consider him a hero, maybe to counter the “tabbara” that they believe shias do for the other companions. Better to stay away from all of this.

There are bordeline cases on both sides. One of my Shia friend refers Ameer Muawiya as ‘yazeed ka jo baap tha na’. Yes better to be away from this. We should not fight for 1400 years old conflict in short.
